WinClear Review Introduction
Your Computer Is Watching & Recording Your Every Move
Are you aware that the computer you're using at this moment is keeping track of EVERY move you make? Did you know the Windows operating system keeps a record of every program you open or close? Or that popular browsers such as Firefox and Internet Explorer store information on every website you visit online. Maybe you knew that information about every picture you have viewed, received or sent to somebody else is held on your computer and is very easy for somebody else such as a spouse or boss to retrieve.
Those are just a few issues that can greatly increase the chances that your privacy will be compromised and sensitive information you may not want anybody else to know about will be exposed.
Sensitive Data In The Wrong Hands Can Be Used Against You
If you keep sensitive data on your computer such as banking information or other personal information you run a very real risk that it can fall in to the wrong hands and be used againest you. For instance, somebody could use that data to steal your identity and clean out your bank accounts or take your credit card information and buy expensive clothing or furniture leaving you with the tab. You may think these stories are made up by the media or happen to other people. I used to believe the same thing - until it happened to me.
I had my identity stolen last year and I only discovered the fraud 6 weeks after it had happened when I received my credit card statement. That was when I became aware that somebody else had used my credit card to purchase several expensive items. This was very trying time as I tried to stop the fraud, which I did eventually but it took its toll on me.
Now I'm much more cautious about protecting my data and privacy and go to much greater lengths to do so. One of the better things I did was to invest in a evidence erasing program and file securing program.
The 'Empty Recycle Bin' Option In Windows Doesn't Really Work
Once I started learning how to protect my data I learned some interesting facts. Like for instance did you know the 'Delete' and 'Empty Recycle Bin' options in Windows don't actually work? Even though the data has been erased it only was rewritten once by Windows. This data though can very easily be recovered by somebody else using a data recovery tool. Many of which are available online. That is why a good data erasing program is needed that will shred the sensitive data multiple times so it can never be recovered. The one I use is called WinClear.

Here is what you will find on this WinClear Review Lens
The WinClear Review
In the Windows General area Winclear lists items that are saved on your computer that you viewed recently. This includes any pictures, movies, documents etc that you may have viewed. The next section, Internet History lists all of the items regarding your web browsing habits. These include any websites you have visited, any pictures you have viewed online or any music you may have listened to among other items. Chat History is where WinClear scans your chat logs such as those found in MSN Messenger or AOL Messenger. Finally, Winclear lists items in the Software area, such as recently viewed Office documents or WinAmp Or Windows Media files you may have viewed.
All these area are scanned very quickly by WInClear and within a few minutes you will have a comprehensive results summary to look at. This summary will show you various files in each of the areas listed above where private data may be held. If you wish you can get more detailed information about individual files simply by clicking on them. If you don't have the time or inclination to do that then just one click of the 'Remove' button and all the sensitive files are shredded and will never be able to be recovered by anybody. Not only does this greatly protect your privacy it will free up much needed space on your hard drive and improve system performance.
if you want more control over WinClear then you can choose which area you would like the program to scan, this is again broken down in to the fours area listed above but can also be subdivided futher so you can pick specific area to scan with ease.
Winclear also has some advanced options to pick from. You can choose how the program shreds the data it deletes. There are four options, WinClear can do one pass of the data for quick and easy shredding but this means the data stands a good chance of been recovered. The next option is 3 passes or DOD 5220 standard which makes is much harder for that data to be recovered. The third choice is NSA shred option. NSA stands for National Security Agency and it will pass over the data 7 times to delete it comprehensively. Finally, there is the Guttman shred scan option which will pass over the data an amazing 35 times. This is one of the most sophisticated shred levels available.
There are number of other options you can choose from including having WinClear open when Windows starts up and have it check for automatic updates.
Winclear comes with a built in help file that answered almost any query that I had about the program. One time I contacted technical support and they were quick to answer my issue.
WinClear Review Conclusion
I have found WinClear to be helpful in protecting my data and give me peace of mind when it comes to my privacy and making sure I don't become a victim of identity theft again.
It's a simple program to use but has some good advanced features that if you take a few moments to learn to use them will be of great benefit to you.
I wish I had been using this program before my identity had been stolen because I am certain it would have helped prevent it.
