Imagine if you will John has an ebay store selling guitar products. He already uses google adsense to reach people specifically looking for guitar products. he has written an e-book on how to play finger style guitar, and he does his very best to seo (search engine optimize) his site and his
ad copy.

but things are slow and everyone is doing the same thing so he decides to do things a little different to get recognized, he posts a laughertisement ad on ebay it's not a real product it's a blatant joke and what he is selling is the ad content not the actual product.

now he runs this ad for the usual seven days and 40 people veiw it and laugh uncontrollably. Then 17 people find it funny and send it to thier friends and they go to his page as well. Now I think this is going to increase visitors who will know his site and maybe look at his store exponentially.

There are a lot of ways you can list an ad on an auction site, but please keep your Customer and product relivance in mind.

I was recently searching though an auction site and I saw an advertisement that made me scratch my head a little.

Somebody had listed a ten thousand dollar Item where people go to purchase one dollar items.

At first I thought S/He must be really frustrated with the amount of competition in the category they list in.

Then I though well maybe they were really good salesman looking for a challenge, or it was some sort of a bet between 2 cocky salesmen.I can just picture them right now on the sales floor. Hey Ray I bet I can sell a car to anybody any day.

Now I don't have a problem with them trying something new, there's definitely nothing wrong with that.I really admire and respect people trying new concepts and stepping out of thier comfort zone, sure they make mistakes but thier usually alot more succesfull.

I just thought they would have had more success if they would have thought about Product and customer relivance.

What I mean is I personally don't want to stand in a room with fifty thousand other salesman and be selling the same thing, but I would rather do that than try and sell a Toyota to a two year old.

There are a lot great ways to create a niche if you think about your product and who is going to use it.

Also try and think about what they might say or type when looking for your product, put yourself in their shoes.
