Who Is Joseph Hagerty?

Joseph Hagerty was born April 19, 1982 in Alberquerque, NM to Mike and Kathy Hagerty. He has three sisters, all of whom were in gymnastics, so he just followed suit and started gymnastics in 1989.

Joseph is coached by Vitaly Marinitch and Alex Shchennokov at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Hagerty had been a national team member several times, he was not on the initial radar for the Olympic team. He had never made a world championships team, and his best national result was fourth at the 2005 U.S. Championships.

Hagerty proved his worth to the selection committee in the summer of 2008, however, hitting 23 of 24 routines at the two competitions. He was third all-around and first on high bar at the national championships, and second all-around and first on floor exercise and high bar at the trials.

Joe comes home with a bronze medal from the team competition.
