I left California in 1991 after earning my MS at Cal Poly SLO to get my PhD in Botany at WSU, and now live in North Idaho. As much as I love Idaho, I do so much miss the California deserts. We visited Death Valley and the the Carisso Plain several years ago for a stellar floristic display. I work on sub-alpine and alpine taxa now, so I really should have no complaints :). This is a beautiful lens. Doing the April Fools Quest, but no foolery here!

Well, there is something about the Joshua Tree that really fascinates me, so this is a great lens. LOVE your pictures.

Had no idea there were that many wildflowers in the desert.

The wildflowers may begin blooming in the lower elevations of the Pinto Basin and along the south boundary of park in February and at higher elevations in March and the April. Desert regions above 5000 feet may have plants blooming as late as in the June. The extent and timing of spring wildflower blooms in the Joshua Tree National Park may vary from one year to next.

You have put together a truly beautiful gallery of photos. I have recently driven through Joshua Tree, but unfortunately was not able to stop and enjoy its scenery. To be honest, the last time I actually ventured into it was many years ago when a few of my college buddies and I thought it would be fun to go in while on mushrooms and acid. It was fun for a little while and then it started getting dark and wasn't all that fun any more. I have since well outgrown my crazy days and plan on making another trip there in the near future. Lovely lens.

Beautiful pictures of the wildflowers. I really need to go in the spring - we only live about 2 hours drive away. Yet, we are scheduled to meet up with friends there next week. It's just too cold for my taste. Thanks for mentioning my humble JT lens, I've lensrolled this and am off to visit your other lens. Before I go I'll leave some Angel dust for the lovely pictures ^:)^ Happy Holidays!

I was at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center in April this year and there were not as many flowers out as you show here. I really enjoyed your photos and they tease me into wanting to return a little later in the spring... Five Stars!

Beautiful photography! I've been to Joshua Tree NP a few times, but never during the blooms that you have here. It's usually in the summer when everything is brittle. It gets pretty hot there--over or near 100 degrees every time we've gone! It's a really interesting park, and it never is all that crowded. Nice work on this lens!
