The Best Urban Legend I've Ever Tasted!

You've all seen the e-mail! But...have you ever made the cookie?

As the legend goes, a lady stops for lunch at a Department Store. For desert, she orders a cookie. She likes the cookie so much that she asks for the recipe. The next month on her Visa bill is a charge for $250.00 for the famous cookie recipe. She fights with the major department store and looses. To get even, she emails and posts the recipe everywhere.

As urban legends go, this is the best tasting legend I've ever had. Enjoy!

THE NEIMAN MARCUS
COOKIE:
1 cups butter
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cups sugar
2 1/2 cups blended oatmeal (measure oatmeal and blend in a blender to a fine
powder.)
12 oz. chocolate chips
1 cups brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 - 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated)
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups chopped nuts (your choice, but we liked pecans best)
***************************************************
Cream the butter and both sugars.
Add eggs and vanilla; mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking
powder, and soda.
Add chocolate chips, Hershey Bar and nuts. Roll into balls and place two
inches apart on a
cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
Makes 61 cookies.

Serve with tall glass of milk!

I Love Old Magazines!!!

One of my first great estate sale finds was a huge lot of 1940's & 50's New Yorker's. It was then that I fell in love with old magazines. I discover that these magazines had fantastic old articles, ads, art, photos and covers. I can't tell you how great the trip down memory lane was. Soon I had my family and neighbors over all thumbing through the pages.
The covers and ads looked great matted and framed. I had people emailing looking for specific ads, dates and articles. I then realized that vintage magazines are very popular and come in many different topics. So, I started picking up any old publication that I could find. My magazines are almost as big a distraction for me as surfing the web. Sometimes I have trouble getting my work done due to a particular new item.
Although I'm now down to one sad lonely New Yorker Magazine (originally I had 350), I've moved on to a great lot of 1950's & 60's Popular Mechanics, Mechanix Illustrated and Science and Mechanics Magazines. I also carry some Vintage Knitting, Cooking, Photography and National Geographic Magazines. Stop by and take a look. Browsing old magazines can be a very fun and rewarding experience. You never know what you might find or remember.

I love the old postcards -- I have quite a selection that I've acquired over the past several years -- mostly of Satu-Mare Romania -- dating back to when it was Szatmar-Nemeti Hungary. Nice selection of items.

Vintage Maps and Travel Guides!

Map Collecting has become a very popular hobby. A Vintage Map is like a snap shot in time for any given place. Not only do maps report geographical details of a region, they often contain interesting information from the past such as: restaurants, hotels and points of interest.
There are many great websites on Cartography. For information on the care and storage of your map collection, check out this site:
