Everyone Has Something To Give
There is someone out there today that needs you. I don't know who it may be, but they are there. It could be someone who has lost their job and has no idea how they are going to feed their family, or maybe the person who lost everything in a fire last night, or even the cashier as you check out who just had a bad day dealing with disgruntled customers. Someone needs your help.
Everyone has something to give. You could give money, food, clothes, household goods, your time, or even just a Smile.
Who can you give to today?
Today's Reflections

I am sitting here today and watching the river spill into my yard. I am not fretting as I know there is not a thing I can do about it. So I joke about floating away. What good would it do to worry?
If the water makes it to the house we will not take any risks and we will leave, which means we will probably lose everything. But all of that everything can be replaced with just a little more work, so why worry? I know something better will be in store for me, as every set back I have ever had has always resulted in something better. So I know I will be fine, might as well relax.
As I watch others in areas around us losing their homes and evacuating, I am seeing so many people distraught and overcome by fear, I know they need someone. Most of the people that are really affected have already been affected by the current economy and probably do not have flood insurance. Resources in the area are getting low due to several major storms the last few years. I am wondering if someone will be there for them.
Just a note: The water has receded, our town was spared this time. Daytona Beach is drying out and receiving emergency assistance, but many people do have so much damage and loss. Everyday there is someone, somewhere who needs someone to help them, even if it is just a kind word.

What Can We Do?

Ahhhh!
We can make a difference in someone's life. We cannot do it all but we can do something everyday. What if we just helped one person everyday? How would this world change if everyone did?
People need someone each and every day. So why do we only think of giving at certain times of the year or when there is a natural disaster? Is it because we choose not to see it most of the time?
A friend may need a hug, a stranger could use a genuine smile, help with a door, groceries, or even a kind word, it could be something so small, but would make a great difference just to know that someone really cared.
I now start each day by saying, " Thank you for this wonderful day, show me who could use some help today."
Do people magically appear?
Naw, they have always been there. It is me who has magically changed, I can now see them.
Who do you now see that could use your help today?

How to Choose Charitable Organizations
There are so many organizations out there, just how do you know which ones are the right ones? Is one better that another?
I believe the best way to choose is first and foremost what does your heart say to you? There are many many quality organizations, but which ones actually speak to you? You will do the most good giving of yourself to something you have a strong belief in.
Second, research the organization. How do they spend their money? What do they actually do to help the cause? Is there an office nearby if you want to physically help?
If you are able to give money, please do so. A charitable organization can make the money go so much further than we could.

- Indeed we all have something to give, someone to listen to. I love how you put this together, and wish I wasn't a worrier, because as you said there is nothing we can do sometimes anyway. Beautifully written......and the graphics add a great touch.

- I'm in agreement with John's prayer as well and can had nothing to it. My favorite thing is showing up where I'm supposed to be and watch what God does. A while back I felt so blessed for doing what was on my heart. I saw a man outside the grocery store with a "I need help" sign. I sat in the car a bit after I arrived to really check with my spirit and felt I should give him some money and did--I thought that was the end of it. A few moments later a young lady came along pushing a stroller and asked, "Ma'am, do you know where I can get financial help to get food for me and my little girl?". I realized that this was really what I was waiting for and emptied my wallet--she was so grateful and started to tell me, "You don't have to do that". But as you know I did have to and then remembered my hide-away emergency 20. The money may seem like the important thing, but I think I think just being acknowledged as having a need without judgement. God set me up for that one!
