KEEP BROWNWOOD BEAUTIFUL PROGRAMS

Planning Meeting- Setting goals, projects, date, budget the board members commit to for the year. January

Litter Index- Volunteers drive a predetermined route and rank the amount of visible litter. Keep America Beautiful (KAB) requirement. February

Great American Clean Up- The nation's largest clean up and recycling event. Clean up, Green up, Fix up, Paint up, and education. Mid march though mid May.

Day in the Park- All day family event hosted by Family Services. KBB helps with litter and garbage planning. Litter Free Event. April

Don't Mess With Texas Trash Off- State wide clean up event. Usually in April.

Earth Day- KBB partners with city sanitation department and host a city wide clean up event. April

Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) Awards- Applications accepted by KTB state wide for recognition of programs, groups, and individuals. May

KTB Conference- 3 day event with educational sessions and presentation of KTB Awards. June

SWARM- Howard Payne University students volunteer for 4 hours for various projects. Usually 25-40 students. September

City Wide Clean Ups- KBB and city sanitation host a free, all day event to collect debris from citizens. April and September

Texas Recycles Day- Yearly event to promote recycling. November 15

Holiday Lights- KBB decorates selected sites in Brownwood. November

Christmas Parade- KBB rides with the sanitation department to promote KBB. KBB rides with the Sanitation Dept. and hands out items.

Lake and River Clean Up- Organized clean ups at lakes, rivers, and creeks. Marking storm drains. KTB Year round

Green Spaces- Eight green spaces on city property that KBB maintains with plantings, mowing, and sprinkler systems. Year round

Mobile Recycling Trailer- KBB partners with the city's sanitation department to provide in town recycling and recycling at the lake. Can be used at special events. Year round

Plant Sale- Selling plants at the mobile recycling trailer and/or can be a large event. Year round

Youth Grants- Funding for youth groups for beautification, litter, recycling projects. Year round

Tools for Schools- Building at the Recycling Center to collect items that schools and nonprofits can use in their programs. Year round

Compost Demonstration Site- At the Recycling Center. Examples of various compost systems and large bulletin board. Year round

Arbor Day- Day designated for planting trees. Last Friday in April.

Fundraising- Developing and implementing plans to raise funds for projects. Can include grant writing. Year round.

Education- Presenting educational programs for adults and children. Year round.

Public Relations- Developing ways to increase public awareness about KBB and its projects. Year round.

Adopt-A-Spot- Groups or individuals agree to take care of an area for two years. KBB provides materials and signage. Year round.

Community Plaza- Area being developed for demonstration gardens and to hold KBB events. Brady and Avenue B.
