We started hating each other. Then, when we became desperate, we realized that we needed to connect back together again to feel that true happiness we had once felt.
Ari and the Tree
By Sarah Kemppainen and Diane Newton, edited by Debbie Wood
Ari was a very wise and loving lion who lived with many children in a special park. He was an extraordinary lion, because he could talk to the children and to all the other animals and birds in the park. The children rode on his back, petted his soft fur, and they had such a great time together. Ari was very kind to the children because he loved them very much.In the center of the park was an enormous tree. The tree was as old as time, and it was so tall that the children couldn't even see the top! It had many branches, but the children didn't climb the tree because they were too busy playing games, swinging, sliding down the slide, and riding their bikes.
One day Ari told the children a story about how he had learned to climb the tree. He said he could climb all the way to the top of the tree, and that he entered different worlds on the way up to the top! There were five different worlds he could climb to and experience. He said that if the children wanted to learn to climb the tree, and see these magical worlds for themselves, he could teach them how to do it!
Many of the children went back to playing their games in the park and never thought of climbing the old tree again. Some were busy having fun with their toys, some weren't sure what to think of Ari's story, and still some were afraid they might fall and hurt themselves.
But a brave boy named David decided he would climb the tree and see the magical worlds. He was bored with the games he used to have fun playing. He talked about climbing the tree a lot, and he told the other kids about how great it would be to climb the tree. After a while, a group of kids were eager to climb the tree too. They would meet with Ari every day to learn about how to climb the tree. They read books about it, sang songs about it, and talked about how wonderful it would be to experience the different worlds. They were really excited to climb the tree and see the new worlds!
Ari taught the children about the laws of nature and he told them that there was a certain magic in nature that he used in order to climb the tree. The magic was love and the more loving and giving he became, the higher he could climb. The children who wanted to climb the tree formed a group and every day they practiced loving each other and giving to each other.
The secret to climbing the tree safely was that the rest of the group were waiting at the bottom with their hands clasped. And if David should fall, they would be there to catch him in their arms and bounce him back up in the tree even higher than he was before!
After practicing for a long time, David was finally ready to climb the tree. Ari would climb the tree with David, and he'd show David which branches to climb and which ones to avoid. He always stayed a little higher than David, so that climbing the tree was a fun challenge.
When David stepped on the first branch of the tree, he experienced a new incredible world. He couldn't believe how beautiful it was. He realized that everything that happens, whether we think of it as good or bad, is really just Nature's way of teaching us to be more loving and giving. In this world David learned that Nature is only love and teaches with love. He understood that everything that had happened in his life was really Nature talking to him!
David wanted to keep climbing higher in the tree to experience more worlds. And after trying very hard to be more loving and giving, he was able to climb higher up the tree. And he could see incredibly, beautiful things from up there! David knew that everything that Nature did was perfect. What he saw in these magical worlds became more special to him than this world. The higher that David climbed the more he was filled with Nature's love. Soon he had a strong desire to be just like Nature and to share his love with others and if they were interested show them the special tree.

The Invisible Bond
by Marina Fataeva
Once upon a time there lived an evil king. He hurt children and grown-ups, hated everybody, he was a vicious and wicked tyrant. One summer day the king looked outside the window and saw a stranger by his castle, who has gathered a crowd. A stranger was saying something and people were laughing in return. The wicked king didn't like laughter or joy. He ordered his guards to catch that person and put him in a dungeon. And this was done.
The day ended, and the king went to sleep. Lying comfortably in his elegant bed he closed his eyes, and just as the dreams started to unveil, all of a sudden he saw a stranger.
- What are you doing in my bedroom, - king screamed furiously, - you're supposed be in the dungeon?!
- No, I don't, - with a witty smile said a stranger, - I'm not just an ordinary person, I am a wizard. And we are going to embark on on journey.
- Guards!- the king shouted in terror, but it was too late. Everything started to twirl in his eyes and the bedroom disappeared.
He appeared in a big, beautiful city, there were many people around. But something was very strange in this picture. He looked closer, and saw that everybody was connected to each other by thin shining threads. Furthermore, same threads were drawing out from people to animals and plants.
- What is this? - with an amazement asked king. He easily walked through those threads, like they were a ray of light, without tearing them.
- This is a connection between all that exists on the planet. All of the people are dependent on each other, and all the plants and animals depend from them. They are the parts of one organism. These threads - are the energy of love and kindness that allow everybody to live in happiness and joy. Breaking these threads with hate, animosity, greed and cunningness people bring upon themselves suffering and sorrow. Even by hurting one person, we can cause destruction and misfortune of many people, destroy animals and plants - destroy life%u2026
- All of this is nonsense, - shouted the evil king, - and what kind of planet is this?!
- It is your planet, - answered wizard. - I just gave you a chance to see something that exists, but is invisible. By spreading harm, you not only destroy the surrounding world, eventually you destroy yourself.
- Nonsense! It can't be! - the king screamed. In the meantime, he pushed one of the pedestrians into the river, because he was in a hurry and accidentally brushed against him. The wizard shook his head in disapproval, waved his hand and%u2026
The king woke up in his bedroom, and he was in a horrible mood. He immediately sent the guards to check on a stranger-wizard. But the dungeon was empty. The wizard disappeared. The evil king was furious, so he called a butcher to execute the guards. But it turned out that the butcher went blind. It's because early in the morning, a gigantic fiery star flew by the planet causing to go blind everybody that looked at it. And most of them did, since all of the population went to work at sunrise, which was king's order.
- Where were the star-gazers?! - the king screamed in rage. Later, it turned out that the star-gazers knew about the fiery star and sent a messenger to warn everybody. But somebody pushed him into the river and the messenger drowned.
Almost everybody went blind. The guards and janitors were blind, and so there was a chaos in the streets. Blind peasants couldn't work in the fields and take care of the animals. Hungry house animals ran away into the wilderness. All of the flowers faded; there wasn't anybody that watered them. The gardens became empty. Nobody could work, produce any goods, there wasn't anybody that could serve the king. Fear and horror took over a planet.
A hungry, petrified and miserable king hid himself. But suddenly, he saw a wizard. Just as the wicked king was about to attack him, he saw a shining thread that was connecting them.
- So all of this is true? - asked a horrified king.
- Yes, it's true, - answered wizard. Now you see yourself how everything is interconnected, that all of us are dependent on each other. I gave you a chance to see that. And what did you do?
- What can be done, - cried king, -how to restore everything?!!
But the wizard just smiled and%u2026 disappeared in the air.
The king woke up and, and appeared to be standing by the window. It was a summer day; people were walking by, just an ordinary day. He saw a stranger by his castle, surrounded by a crowd. The stranger was telling something and the people were laughing in return.
- Guards! - king screamed and then froze for a moment, - approach that person and offer him food and shelter. And ask, if he may need anything else.
The moment he said it, he saw that everybody was connected with shining treads. And if they are shining, it means that the energy of love and kindness are passing through. It means that everybody is going to live happily ever after. In harmony and joy, and in love and peace.
