Singer/producer/songwriter Kanye West has broken the music mold. He has released three albums, and won nine Grammy Awards during his short career to date, and there is not an end in sight. He has performed rap music and produced the same, been involved in both Christian and soul genres, and influenced many rappers/soul singers including the popular Jay-Z and more.

Kanye West has been in the controversy section of many magazines, mostly from comments that have appeared to be politically incorrect (such as his infamous Hurricane Katrina comment). These have apparently not affected his popularity adversely however, considering the amount of money he has earned from album sales, touring opportunities, and production prospects.

Although Kanye West has experienced much tragedy in his personal life in the last couple of years with the loss of his mother and a break-up with his fiancée, he has used the negative experiences to learn and put them to good use in his music. The song he wrote in honor of his mother he has since performed at the Grammy Awards. He will continue to be an influential, if controversial, part of the music community
