Kate Winslet blew everyone away with her role in The Reader. She fully deserved the Academy Award she received for her performance. Having done some ok roles, she is again on top. Very few actors or actresses experience both the fame and fortune.
Many good actors go through entire career without having a blockbuster movie or even getting nomiated for the Academy Award. Kate Winslet, on the other hand, achieved both. She starred in one of the greatest blockbusters of all time - TItanic - and received the Academy Award for the Reader. This was no fluke - she has 6 Academy Award nominations to her name. She is a superb actress and any movie in which Kate Winslet appears is worth watching - she is that good!

Kate Winslet is not only an accomplished actress. She also had roles in animated feature films. In addition, she sings well enough to have recorded a number of soundtracks. The single "What If" from the soundtrack for Christmas Carol: The Movie was a hit single in a number of European countries. Still, being an actress is what she does best - as a matter of fact, many consider her the best English-speaking actress of her generation.

Kate Winslet divorces Sam Mendes

Apparently it's official - Kate Winslet will divorce Sam Mendes - her husband of six years. It's not really a surprise - there were rumors that the marriage has not been going well for some time. When Winslet won the Oscar, she thanked Leonardo DiCaprio,
but not her husband. Story has it that she is spending time talking with Leonardo, who is her close confidant.
