On Oct. 10, prayer or how to worship became the issue. "A lot of the kids were trying to have a church service," Madison said. "They rang the bell for about 15 minutes, and nobody came."

Squabbling erupted, splitting the group between those who thought separate religions should hold separate services and those who thought they should all pray together.

One girl said "Christians rule!" while a few Jewish kids, led by Zach, tried to explain Judaism and Anjay, a Hindu council member, looked glum. A Chinese American boy who often speaks in favor of reason urged the group to be tolerant.

"About half of the kids were upset and crying," Madison said. "Later that night, the ones who wanted to pray organized a bonfire. Some people didn't do it, because that's not the type of thing they do every day. Other kids did want to do it."

Zach, who emerged as a leader during the episode, "would go around and get kids to go to the bonfire," Madison said.

"It was cool. They actually got together as kids, no adults, and prayed about what they think about. They missed their families. It made them cry."

After the showdown, which challenged the teams to assemble huge puzzles of churches, the council chose between two prizes: a miniature golf course or the holy books from several major religions, including the Bible and Koran. The holy books won the day. And several of the kids spent time reading them.

Morgan won the gold star, and Madison could see why. "She tried to get people to come to pray but she said they didn't have to. She helps with the dishes, and she has a smile on her face even if she doesn't have to."

Cute little Taylor's favorite subject in school is science, and she eventually wants to become a paleontologist. Taylor believes that there should be stricter laws against child abuse and murderers and that overpopulation is one of the reasons why global warming is getting worse.

Eleven-year-old Taylor from Sylvester, Georgia is a young girl with many dreams. Aside from becoming Miss America, she also wants to pursue an acting and singing career.

Taylor is one of 40 kids aged 8 to 15 to participate in CBS' Kid Nation, a reality series set in the abandoned Bonanza City, New Mexico. The barren city will be the venue of the rise of a kids-only society which will test their endurance for independence.

The kids are tasked to support themselves by engaging in labor and governance, and every episode featured a town meeting where they discuss problems and issues, and award a worthy kid with a gold star worth $20,000.

Many people consider controversial Taylor to be their favorite Kid Nation character.
