Kid's and Art, the things we can do and call Art are Endless!

Every Year I gave my kids a Brand New Art Set with crayons, paint and brushes, pastels, and markers in a Case for Christmas. Recalling the feeling how great it was to get a new box of perfectly sharp crayons was for me at their age. Now, many years later there are so many wonderful sets to choose from with so much more than just 12 crayons in a box. Every Year I'd find a set better than ever! An Artist want-a-be myself, many times I was left at the table finishing my picture as the kids found something else to amuse themselves with. I love to give Art Sets as gifts too, it's such a great way for kids to express themselves and build self esteem when they see it hanging on the fridge!

Do Art - Modern Masterpieces

Children and Adults that like to draw or paint can't always come up with an idea to work on while in the mood to create something they can be proud of. When I saw this Masterpiece Art Set in a box, I remembered that artist who announced that many Masters themselves would go to museums and copy other Masters paintings for practice and learning. What a great idea, it's simple to use however has all the right tools to replicate a Master's painting. Since something as simple as coloring is therapeutic for me, I get great satisfaction with the art I can produce from this box. A learning tool for the kids who think they can't draw, this set is a great start.

What do You do when a Child Says " I can't Draw!"

A child can get a lot of inspiration by simply going to the library! Our small but well stocked library has plenty of books that give step by step simple instructions for almost anything they want to try. I prefer to avoid "drawing lessons" because there are so many resources close to home and on the internet that takes the stress out drawing the perfect picture or learning that perfect art is not essential. 3-dimensional collages (assemblage) with glue and found objects can be a great way to start their creative juices flowing and keep the "pressure" of pencil on paper until the creative young artist naturally dives in again.

Preserving your art supplies is as important as preserving the art.

Storing paper properly is important. If art paper get's wrinkled, dirty or torn it's useless for an art project. I like to recycle boxes from several different products I've purchased for our art paper. Usually sturdy and so many different sizes they can be useful and handy and stacked for saving space.I color code the box with a piece of art paper stored in that box, or several sheets if there are several colors in that box. There are specific art paper organizers for art paper that may work for you and your art supply needs but many may not have the space or the funds to buy an expensive art specific organizer. Preserving your art supplies is just as important as preserving the finished art. Paper can get expensive so storing art supplies properly will actually inspire many kids to start a project when they see fresh and clean paper with many colors to choose from.
I want to add MY FAVORITE TIP!! Paper can be the most costly art supply due to many reasons. I just got a tip from a neighbor who has a Fine Arts Degree, that if you go to any local printing company and ask for their "scrap" or what they are throwing away , they will give it to you for free. It may come in different sizes each day you go, however it's usually quality stuff and can save you moocho bucks. I like it because the color, size and quality vary so now we have more choices, important in all art work.

I love this Awesome Art Set for it's Value. There are 10 different media to choose from and loaded with enough supplies for hours of creative fun. the Quality is Great! (I love to use them, too!) The many tools included in this set seem to be designed for inspiration because it includes so much for lots of varying artwork, not just a picture. Extremely Valuable for its Quality and Quantity for many beautiful pieces of art and entertainment. Even very heavy use there is still a lot of material left for more creative art.
Don't question for a moment the tremendous value here.

Kids Art Easels and Tables

Art Easels and Tables come in various designs. There are stand up easels that are vibrant in color and design and simple versions made of wood or plastic. When I went to Art Class , the easel was essential in learning to draw because we need to have full use of our arms for our work to flow. We could use a stool or stand up, For kids, I loved the easels with places for paints and brushes , very organized and simple to clean up and store. As an adult I prefer a simple wood easel that can be moved around easily. Art Tables for kids are Wonderful because they come in so many variations, my favorite being the ones that have a place to hold all the supplies needed for the CREATIVE KID who needs his/her supplies right there while the creative juices are flowing.

When I was a kid we didn't have anything in the form of art's and craft kits like there is today. I look at all this stuff and think, wow , I might have been more inspired, a better artist today if I had nicely put together kits that were color coordinated and embellishments that made making a picture frame fun, exciting and the great pleasure knowing I had made it myself. For kids, art's and craft time is fun, I can imagine their pleasure of making something they can actually use. I like to think of Frame Kits as "Practical and Pretty".

Summer Time Is Here!

Keeping kids entertained for long periods of time can be easy if you give them the gift of art. From Crayons to Dough Art, and now Water Colors in the tub! Every time I search for new ideas for kids I am amazed how many great Ideas that Creators of art supplies and Authors of books and web site tutorials have provided and getting better all the time. Even in the Summer and outside, Kids can create with just about anything!

Again, the gift of art is a wonderful outlet for kids. Turn on their favorite music and give them something they can put together and be proud of is priceless. I really believe in the "kit factor", because most of us don't have art supplies galore just hanging around the house and easy to find when our children get the inspiration. Sometimes, making something that can be used and practical can be what they need instead of just drawing or painting. I would have loved to have a kit to make my own purse as a youngster along with a Picture Frame kit or many of all that is out there. Something about making things yourself that you are proud of effects our feelings in a good way and for a long time. I think the kit's make great gifts too. My Mom friends have always cherished the gifts that keep the children busy and feel great with their new designs!!!

Spring and Summer Art

Crayola Sidewalk Chalk

When Spring arrives and the kids want to get out and enjoy the fresh air my first thought every year is where is the side walk chalk? When the kids were smaller I found Egg Shaped side walk chalk and put them in the Easter Baskets! Side Walk Chalk is so big I haven't had to buy it many times since we always kept it in a special box with the summer toys. When family visits I keep it handy near the back door so the little ones can enjoy outside creative arts. Of Course I keep Bubbles too. Kids of every age can enjoy Bubbles. I was surprised when I watched my 16 year old daughter at the time, enjoying the Chalk along with the younger kids, she made it a group effort and taught the kids to get creative with more colors and exchange ideas for new drawings. The Clean UP !!! Nature. Gotta love a rainy day for that. Many Colors in a nice Sturdy Box has been my choice, they last years and so does the chalk. These are great "pointy tips", Love that idea!

    Beautiful art sets for young and old. I have absolutely no artistic abilities yet one of my daughters is an amazing artist in pencil drawings of architecture. I think we all have specific talents and if they are encouraged to be worked on when a person is young that they develop into our skills as an adult. Art is a great place to start.

    Crayons are not just for kids. I love a new box of crayons. I worked with an art therapist who always brought crayons and markers to staff meetings and "made us" draw. I tried to re-create that wonderful time at other jobs but just got strange looks from the boss. I guess drawing is not productive. So they think. I love the colors on this page.
