This Kindle Wireless Reading Device is the HOT must-have gadget that I have and I love!
The Kindle Wireless Reading Device is my favorite gadget right next to my iPod nano and Blackberry Curve. I absolutely love it! I was one of the FIRST Squidoo lensmasters to get the Amazon Kindle; I bought mine in late June 2008. Today it feels like I've always had it. I don't know what I did before my Amazon Kindle! You quickly become attached to reading Kindle-style and almost feel a bit strange cracking that paperback book. I have downloaded Seth Godin's audiobook, Tribes! My first and only audiobook!

More about the Kindle Wireless Reading Device
It's arrived on Wikipedia!
Amazon Kindle is a software and hardware platform developed by Amazon.com subsidiary Lab126 for rendering and displaying e-books and other digital media. Three hardware devices, known as "Kindle", "Kindle 2," and "Kindle DX" support this platform, as does an iPhone application called "Kindle for iPhone". The first device was released in the United States on November 19, 2007.
The Kindle hardware device uses an E Ink brand electronic paper display, and is able to download content over Amazon Whispernet using the Sprint EVDO in the USA or, for newer Kindle 2 devices, AT&T's network internationally.
The Kindle hardware device can be used without a computer, and Whispernet is accessible without any fee. These devices also provide free access to the internet. Kindle devices sold prior to October 19, 2009 were sold only in the United States.

Who Needs a Kindle?

We here at Cracked were curious when we first read about the Kindle. "What kind of person would actually need 200 books on them at any one time?" Then, we stumbled upon this ad. Now we know exactly what kind of person the Kindle was designed for...

Hot Tips when becoming acquainted with your Kindle Wireless Reading Device
What Amazon should do ...
Amazon really needs to package a Amazon-logoed paperclip in the cool box with the Kindle. I needed to remove the back cover and insert a paperclip in the reset button to get the Kindle to reset.
Be sure to charge completely the battery. Within 24 hours of use, I've had to recharge twice.
Do not try to multi-task when downloading sample chapters of ebooks to your Kindle ... some of the Eastern European ebooks I was browsing have price tags approaching $100/ea!

A little history of the Kindle Wireless Reading Device from The Amazon Kindle Team
Three years ago ...

Kindle:
Amazon's New Wireless Reading Device

- We designed Kindle to provide an exceptional reading experience. Thanks to electronic paper, a revolutionary new display technology, reading Kindle's screen is as sharp and natural as reading ink on paper-and nothing like the strain and glare of a computer screen. It never becomes hot and is designed for ambidextrous.
- We wanted Kindle to be completely mobile and simple to use for everyone, so we made it wireless. No PC and no syncing needed. Using the same 3G network as advanced cell phones, we deliver your content using our own wireless delivery system, Amazon Whispernet.
- You'll never need to locate a hotspot. There are no confusing service plans, yearly contracts, or monthly wireless bills-we take care of the hassles so you can just read.

- Being a librarian I have been in on all electronic devices that have come down the pipeline in the last fifteen years. Patrons see them as a novelty, but still want to curl up in be with a good book.
I am not saying this will always be the case, but for now it seems to be fact.
