Read books electronically with a Kindle ebook reader, buy yours here:

I got my own Kindle ebook reader in 2011; I received it as a present for Christmas, and I love it.

The Kindle is a portable electronic book reader. It is so convenient, no more multiple books lying around. The Kindle can store thousands of books, all in one convenient place.

The Kindle is not only convenient, it is lightweight. The pages lie flat. The screen is non-glare, and it's user friendly. The last page that I read is is the one it opens to when I turn it back on. I can also press the menu key to choose another page in the book I'm reading, or the Home key to choose another book.

The Kindle Wireless Reading Device comes in two sizes; a 6 inch display, and a 9.7 inch display. The one I have is the 6 inch display. I've read that the larger one is the screen of preference for reading text books.

Latest Generation Kindle Reading Device

The price is listed at $189.00.

Latest Generation Kindle from AmazonThe Kindle Wireless Reading Device, 6" Display, 3G works globally and has:

* A high contrast screen
* No glare
* Dark fonts, that you can adjust the size of
* A slender body
* Weighs less than a paperback
* Up to a month of battery life with wireless off
* Stores up to 3,500 Books
* Books are downloaded in less than a minute (turn the wireless on to download.)
* No additional fees and no contracts
* Ability to connect to Wi-Fi hotspots
* Quick page turns
* Ability to look up words, make notes, and make highlights
* Free 3G web browsing (experimental)

I looked at three different models of ebook readers at a local store.

I like that the Kindle has a keyboard, and overall, the unit seemed more user friendly, without having to read instructions. I decided on a Kindle.

Enjoy continued savings by using an ebook reader

I find that most of the books that I purchase are cheaper in the ebook format.

Pros of an ebook reader

  1. Cost effective if regularly purchasing hardback books, as hardbacks usually cost more than their electronic versions.
  2. Saves on space wherever you have been storing books.
  3. Takes up less space in the landfill once the books have been read.
  4. Lighter to carry than multiple books.
  5. Easier to carry than multiple books.
  6. Another pro that I've noticed is quicker delivery time. I can receive my ebook in just about a minute from the time of purchase.

Cons of ebook readers

  1. May not be cost effective if regularly purchasing paperbacks - as some paperbacks cost less than their electronic versions.
  2. Not visually appealing if one is wanting to grow a book library.
  3. Paperbacks and Hardbacks are easier to share/lend. However, I've heard that a lending option is in the works.
  4. Books that have become banned can electronically disappear from the directory.

Features that the 6" and 9.7 inch display Kindles have in common:

    Thanks for the review. I still haven't bought an eBook reader, but I guess I will eventually!
