Kingsley Press

My name is Edward Cook and I am the owner of Kingsley Press. For many years I worked in Christian publishing with a small family owned company called Harvey and Tait, which later changed its name to Harvey Christian Publishers, Inc. They published a lot of compilationss or selections from the writings of Christians from the past, usually with an emphasis on a deeper relationship with Christ, the Spirit-filled life, dying to self, suffering with Christ and its results, the power of prayer, revival, etc. These compiled writings were drawn from writers belonging to various denominations, so they were not sectarian at all. The emphasis was always on a relationship rather than a particular creed or dogma or agenda.

Though I no longer work for Harvey Christian Publishers, the publishing "bug" has never got out of my system, so several years ago my wife and I started Kingsley Press and published our first four titles. These days we concentrate on distributing more than publishing, and we do almost everything through the internet. Our online store takes orders 24/7, even when we are sleeping.

Our product line contains many of the excellent books by Harvey Christian Publishers, many of which I worked on as part of the editorial team. We also sell Devern Fromke's wonderful books for both children and adults, as well as books by Randy Alcorn, John Piper, G. H. Lang, and many other great writers of the past and present. Harold St. John

This is the first book we published--one of the best biographies I've ever read. It makes compelling reading from start to finish-hard to put down once you've picked it up. This books deserves to be ranked with the great Christian missionary biographies. Harold was one of the most gifted Bible teachers of his day, and the story of his life and influence is as relevant now as ever.

Pastoral Letters

A dear friend of mine by the name of Bill Hughes suggested that the ten excellent letters written by Robert Murray McCheyne to his flock while he was away would make an excellent little book. Robert Murray McCheyne was one of the godliest men Scotland every produced. "I am better acquainted with Jesus Christ than I am with any man in the world," he said. Andrew Bonar, his biographer and bosom friend, informs us that "during the last years of his short life, [he] walked calmly in almost unbroken fellow-ship with the Father and the Son." He died in his 29th year .The letters printed in this book were transcribed from the originals which are held at the Free Church of Scotland College, Edinburgh. This is the second book published by Kingsley Press.

The Way of the Cross

This is the third book published by Kingsley Press. It was one that we had considered publishing while I was with Harvey Christian Publishers but finally decided not to. A friend, Jack Morrison of Rare Christian Books, loaned me his copy of the original work. Thus the Kingsley Press edition of The Way of the Cross is complete and unabridged, being based on the text of 1896. J. Gregory Mantle was the well-loved Superintendent of the flourishing Central Hall in Deptford, England, as well as a popular speaker at Keswick and other large conventions for the deepening of spiritual life.
