Cool tools for knitters

Random Stripe Generator
Random Stripe Generator

"I wrote this script to generate random stripe patterns for knitting sweaters, scarves, blankets, etc. It'll give you an idea of what the finished sweater will look like, but it still leaves some unpredictability to the stripe pattern. Try it out by entering your colors and desired stripe widths below"
Waist-Shaping Calculator
This little wonder widget takes you through the steps we've been talking about in our Waist Shaping 101 mini-course and does the math for you! It asks you for all the pertinent information: stitch and row gauge, hip/waist/bust measurements, desired ease, and the necessary vertical measurements, then gives you stitch counts, row counts, and fills in the blanks for such things as "work decrease row every X row Y times."
Leigh's Fiber Links
This site contains the fiber and textile links I've collected over the years. I wanted to put them all in one place, not only so I can find them easier, but also to share them with you. I've also included posts of my own which frequently make search engine lists. I hope you will find all these resources as informative and useful as I do.
Yarndex
Yarndex®, the ultimate yarn resource, now features profiles for almost 4,500 yarns.

Knitting Charities

You can knit, or crochet a project for charity, here's a few to start with...

There are a lot of charities for knitters to contribute time, yarn, knitting, and supplies. Here's a list of some of them, but you can also check with your local shelters, hospitals and churches. Sometimes you'll find that local churches have a knitting circle for that purpose and they may also send knitting to other places in need or even some of the charities listed below.
