Do you like beaded jewelry?

Do you want to find something original, beautiful, and durable?

I invite you to take a look at my work. I think you may just like what you see.

Everything I make, I have designed myself. I specialize in micro macrame, but occasionally branch out to other techniques.

Or, maybe you want to learn how to make it yourself...scroll down and see the patterns I have to offer (a couple of them are FREE). I also offer kits of materials for those who want to "just try one out" before going out to buy all the materials in bulk.

I welcome comments and questions...so, if you have something to say or ask...see my guest book at the end of this lens.

So, come on, have a look...

ShowCase - Spirals

A Simply Elegant or Simply Casual Design Series

The first real design I came up with was this simple "Spirals" design. It can be used in a variety of ways:

As a bracelet with a button closure This one was published as a project in Step By Step Bead Magazine this summer...

Or a lariat style necklace

Spirals Key Chain

To show just a few.

ShowCase - Waves

Another Simply Elegant Design...

Another simple but elegant design is "Waves". Primarily made of Square Knots and plenty of beads, this design is an opportunity to play with color themes. One of my favorites is "Amber Waves" shown here in the photo.

By changing the beads used in the "waves" part of the pattern, a completely different look can be achieved as shown in the photo in the introduction above. I had a lot of fun with those.

ShowCase - Fans

One of My More Popular Design Series

A very elegant design. It reminds me of the 1930's glitz & glamour.

The Orange and Gold are great for Springtime!

This particular bracelet is no longer available, however, I am always making something new - keep checking in.

ShowCase - Serpentine

I was wondering what "Fans" would look like if the double half-hitches were oriented differently...and "Serpentine" was born.

ShowCase - Victorian Lace

Includes Lacy Ripples Bracelet

Using primarily Lark's Head knots, this motif reminds me of "Victorian Lace".

This is an example of the basic design...

The matching "Lacy Ripples Bracelet"...

One of my favorite variations of "Victorian Lace" is this necklace and earrings set...

ShowCase - Tapestry

Going off in a Whole New Direction

Results of playing with some ideas that flashed through my mind one night as I was trying to fall asleep.

One of my favorites, this bracelet reminds me of a tapestry. A beaded tapestry. .

ShowCase - Diamonds

As with all the patterns, there is a lot of room for variations in this Diamonds motif.

Basic variations:

Then there is this one with gemstone chips.

And this one (using fewer strands of cord), I call Yin Yang
There is a little bit of light (pink) in darkness (green), and a little bit of darkness in the light. That is what this simple little design of alternating segments reminds me of.

ShowCase - Criss Cross

Different Beads, Different Looks

Criss Cross is basically made with Square Knots! As you can see, change the beads used, and change the look.

This one, "Criss Cross Bracelet with Amethyst Chips" is no longer available.

Then, with 6mm faceted fire-polished crystal beads...

ShowCase - Lattice

Light and Airy Design Series

Lattice is one of my earlier designs. I wanted to use some bugle beads and this is what I came up with. I like the open "lattice" effect of this design. It gives it an airy feel.

ShowCase - Arrow

I have finally written up the pattern for this one! Although based on my "Diamonds" pattern, this design is a bit more intricate, and so it is recommended for intermediate beaders/knotters.

I love the intricacy and texture of this one. It is a lot of fun to make as well..

Book Review - Micro-Macrame: 30 Beaded Designs for Jewelry Using Crystals and Cords

Great new book on making micro macrame jewelry.

Micro-Macrame: 30 Beaded Designs for Jewelry Using Crystals and Cords

Amazon Price: $13.57 (as of 12/11/2009)Buy Now
List Price: $19.95
Used Price: $11.18

I first encountered the author (Annika deGroot) through her blog "Annika's Atelier" (www.annikaatelier.blogspot.com) right after I started my own blog on micro macrame. She makes all kinds of beautiful things (not just micro macrame). We corresponded a bit back and forth over the next couple of years, checking into each other's blogs upon occasion. I found her to be a delightful and talented woman.

Recently, she contacted me to review her new book. I accepted right away and she sent me an advance copy.

At first glance, I fell in love. What a lovely book with 30 projects in varying degrees of difficulty and a wide variety of projects - from bracelets to ornaments, from victorian to deco - Something for everyone!

Then, this past weekend, I had a chance to delve deeper. You know, try one of the projects to see how the instructions worked out. (And, yes, I could not wait to make one of her designs for my own personal use!)

I made the "Stained Glass Bracelet" without too much trouble.

I had one question which she answered right away and said that anyone buying her book could contact her through her website (www.annikadegroot.com) or her blog (www.annikaatelier.blogspot.com) and she would be happy to answer any questions.

I really cannot say enough about this book. It has beautiful photos, is well written and would provide anyone (beginner or expert) with plenty of projects and inspiration for quite some time...and isn't that really what it is all about?
