Giant Squid and Other Sea Monsters

The Kraken is a giant Cephalopod of the deep seas infamous in sailing lore. Described as a massive, many-tentacled Squid or Octopus large enough and strong enough to crush large wooden sea vessels and devour entire crews, the mere mention of the creature filled sailor's hearts with dread. Aside from storms, reefs, rocks and iceburgs, it was about the worst thing in the sea a ship could encounter!

Let's take a look at some monstrously large sea creatures, both documented and mythical.

The Kraken

Video Montage from "Pirates of the Carribean II - Dead Man's Chest"

Ok, so at 8 minutes, it's kind of long - but it really gives an idea of what it would be like to be on an old wooden tall ship as the Kraken attacks!

'Lo! You have a very nice lens here!
Can I link to it somehow (I'm new to this Squidoo game)... I have a general Sea Monsters lens, but would like to link to some more specific lenses on individual beasties!

Ok, so it's not a Squid, but it's still cephalopod of the deep- and a great song!
