Kurt Patzlaff - Charming, Intelligent, and just a joy to talk to!

Recently my husband and I were participants in the 3rd annual
Halloween Harvest Arts & Crafts Festival held at the Redwood Acres Fairgrounds in Eureka, California. One of the vendors I met there made such a positive impression on me with his charm and zest, I decided to share him with the world.

Welcome to a Brief history of Kurt Patzlaff and Amber-Werx

Kurt Patzlaff has been self employed since 1950 and has been active in all phases of sales in Jewelry, Gems, Minerals, and Lapidary equipment. He has been cutting all types of rough to finished Gems since 1965.

He began teaching at Brooksvale Park, Hamden CT, USA, and sold gemstones to high schools and Universities that taught jewelry classes. Kurt also taught gem cutting and gem identification at the University of Bridgeport from 1976-1992.

Kurt was also active doing workshops at Brookfield Craft Center, Farmington Valley Arts Center, Gilford Craft Center, & Silvermine Art Center Located in Connecticut USA.

In Massachusetts he taught workshops the MASS college of Art in Boston and the Metal Werx in Wolburn Mass.

Amber-Werx was formed in the late 90's with an extreme amount of interest by collectors, for dead bugs.

Since then, Kurt has continued to deal in Gems & Lapidary equipment, although the main focus of Amber-Werx has shifted to selling Colombian Amber & Lapis Lazuli at shows, gatherings, and various festivals.

To this day he is still sitting cutting stones at the machines that he created, which he also markets, called EZ KUTTER.

EZ KUTTER gives you a super stone in 6 easy steps! (What a GREAT gift idea for the gem lover in YOUR life!)

Look for Kurt locally at the many Festivals and Events - and be sure to look for his newest love, the "Sea Opal" - it has been a hit with customers. Kurt came out here from Connecticut to visit his daughter and discovered our local Abalone Shell. In his words: "I cut it..shape it .. polish it and offer it to the many making jewelry. It is truly a beautiful gem. I call it "Sea Opal" It has more colors than the finest opal."
