What Makes It So Amazing?

LEGO Mindstorms NXT 2.0 has everything included that your kid needs to start building robots. The brains of this 612 piece set is an intelligent, computer-controlled LEGO brick that features a 32-bit microprocessor, a large matrix display, input and output ports, and a speaker. There are three interactive servo motors that give you control over your robot. They're so precise that the built in rotation sensor measures steps of one degree! How's that for control?

It also has 4 sensors - an ultrasonic sensor and an all new color sensor for vision, and two touch sensors that you can use to make your robot do things like walk, talk, close a door, or turn off your TV.

But as a parent, what I really love about the NXT 2.0 is the way it gets my kids thinking and using their imaginations. They're using the computer, looking up new ways to program the NXT 2.0 and coming up with ideas of their own. It has my two boys - 13 and 11 years old - working together to build something; to see them do something together for more than an hour without fighting is a miracle in itself! And not just the kids - this is one toy Dad's never too busy to help out them out with. The video game consoles don't get nearly as much action since we bought the NXT 2.0.
