The Law of Attraction & Homeschooling
How to Use What You've Learned From the Secret In Your Homeschool
If you're like me, and have read The Secret, seen the movie, and joined a bunch of online groups and email lists, then if you're a parent, you're also wondering how to teach these same principles to your children. If you're also a homeschooler, which I am assuming you are since you're reading this, then you're wanting to incorporate these new ideals into your homeschool as well.
I've searched all over the internet, and there are a few things here and there that talk about teaching the law of attraction to our kids. There are even a couple of email lists about unschooling and the law of attraction. There isn't anything that incorporates the two ideas together though. That's where I come in.
My new book, which I am currently working on, will be all about how to fully incorporate the Law of Attraction into your daily homeschool, plus give you some lesson plan ideas.
Children are naturals at using the Law of Attraction. We've taught them some about it from the very beginning. From the time they are born, until they are old enough to learn about Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy, we've taught them that they get exactly what they ask for. And depending on the way they ask for it, they either get it faster or slower. The idea is to keep them thinking about LoA even after they are too old for Santa.
I have two sons, who are now 14 & 12. I'm pagan, and have raised my sons to be open minded about their spirituality. I"ve told them what I believe, and what other religions believe as well. Their personal beliefs have changed as they have grown up.
My youngest, when he was very little, believed that his personal god was Anubis. He talked to Anubis, and heard Anubis talk to him through dreams and signs. It was quite adorable, and as a pagan parent, I just loved it!
Then one day, out of the blue, my little guy told me that He wanted to meet Anubis in person. He wrote him a letter, not unlike his letters to Santa, and asked him to come by to see him that night. He was adamant that Anubis was going to come to see him, and that I was to wake him up as soon as Anubis arrived. He wouldn't go to bed until I promised to wake him. So I promised.
I didn't know what I was going to do. I knew that Anubis wasn't going to come, but I also knew that my little guy needed that connection. Anubis made him feel safe and special. I couldn't let him down.
Luckily, Walmart is not only open 24 hours, but has just about everything you could think of. So, at midnight, my sister and I ran out to Walmart to see what the Universe would put in my hands for my baby.
I kept in my mind that something absolutely perfect would pop out at me that was a gift from Anubis. I ran through that store, up and down the toy isles looking for whatever it was that Anubis was going to leave for my son, and hope they had two, cuz I couldn't get something for my youngest without my oldest getting something as well.
I started looking through the stuffed animal bin, and most of what was in there were silly little creatures that my son would not like. Then I saw it, a nice sized black dog. I knew that was from Anubis! For those of you unfamiliar with the mythology of Anubis, he is an Egyptian god, with the head of a Jackal, which looks like a black dog.
I knew that was the perfect gift for my son. I grabbed it, and then started looking for it's twin. There was none. This was the only black dog in the toy bin. There had to be something else for my oldest son. I raced up and down the toys isles again, to see if there was anything that could be from Anubis. Suddenly, on a toy isle that had nothing to do with stuffed animals, hidden almost behind the other toys on the shelf was another black dog. It was EXACTLY like the first!! I hit the jackpot!
After buying the dogs, I went home. I quickly typed up a "note from Anubis" in egyptian hyroglyphic font, with the coresponding english translation, explaining why he couldn't stay to say hi to my sons, and why he left the two dogs.
The next morning was almost like christmas morning. My baby was first up, and when he realized that we hadn't gotten him up for Anubis he was a bit miffed. However, as soon as I read the note to him, he calmed down. He loved the dog, and so did his brother. But my youngest was hardly ever without the dog for more than 3 years. I'm pretty sure he still has it somewhere now.
The point to this story was to demonstrate just one tiny way, that not only did I show the Law of Attraction in action to my sons, but it helped me to do it! I explained to them what happened that night at the same time that I explained Santa to them. They both came to me at seperate times in their lives, ready to hear the truth. I cried, they didn't. LOL!
They were ready to hear about how the Universe works in their lives. However, I didn't have all of the pieces to the puzzle at the time. I had some of it, enough of it to give them some answers. Now, I have enough to give them more. That's what I want to give to you as well. The answers to your children's questions about life and abundance.
The Law of Attraction isn't just another nice philosophy to live by. It's a universal truth, a Law, like gravity. It works whether we use it consciously or subconciously. The only difference is do you want to create the life you've always dreamed of, or let your fears create it? This is the gift that we can give our children.... the Knowledge to Create their lives now, instead of learning how to later in life, like us.
I hope you enjoyed my little story, and will check my website Law of Attraction & Homeschooling to see when my book and lesson plans come out.
