This has been one of my favorite movies since the first time I saw it in 1986. I loved it as a child and still do as an adult.
Contents at a Glance
The Story
This movie combines the imagery of artists like MC Escher and Salvador Dali with the fairy tale imagination of stories like Cinderella and the Wizard of Oz.The lead character Sarah, played by a then 14 year old Jennifer Connelly, is a girl who escapes from her reality by immersing herself in stories and plays. One day that seems to spiral out of control when she wishes for the Goblin King, Jareth, played by David Bowie, to come and take away her baby brother. He does what she asks and she instantly changes her mind.
To get him back she has to enter the surreal world of the Goblins and find her way through the Labyrinth to the Jareth's Castle. Sarah meets many interesting characters along the way and has to learn that life isn't always fair. She learns to think in new ways and how to solve problems with the help of her new friends.
Join Jareth, Sarah and her friends Hoggle, Ludo, and Sir Didymus in their adventures in the Labyrinth.

"Shows what you know..." The Labyrinth is one of my favorite movies of all time. When we were kids and my mom took us to rent a video, my sister and I would always rent this movie and my mom would always say, "Dont you want to rent some thing else?" We never did though! To this day my sister and I can recite every line in the entire movie and we both have it on DVD.

- This is one of my all-time favorite movies! I hadn't seen it in years, and was blown away by the complexity of it when I recently rented it. "Magic Dance" takes me back to being a happy five year old.
One of my girlfriends made an astute comment about the blatant sexuality in the movie (beautiful underage girl, David Bowie in a cod-piece) and how David Bowie's character probably shaped the sexual cravings of an entire generation of girls. Funny thing is, we never remembered the movie being edgy or sexual when we watched the movie as children!

- I LOVE THIS MOVIE... I AM trying my hardest to get the book. But they are so expensive and some are not in very good condition!! This has to be the best movie ever made!!!
