Lauren Child: My Favorite Children's Author
Lauren Child is the British author and illustrator of fabulous children's books for kids of all ages! Charlie and Lola appeals to both preschoolers and tweeners (as it stars one of each), and Clarice Bean is a tweener who can't seem to pay attention, and frequently slips into flights of fancy. Charlie and Lola are now a TV show also, airing on the Disney Channel here in the States.
As an American Anglophile, I adore the accents and the speech patterns, and the little anglicisms (is that a word?)-- for instance, I don't know one American tweener who says "utterly" like Clarice Bean! I just love it! The humor is so British, the situations so imaginative-- if you haven't checked out Lauren Child's work, you need to try it! Check out my links below!
