Hypertufa is a lightweight man made substitute for Tufa rock. Tufa rock is a very porous volcanic rock found in limestone rich areas that can be easily carved. For centuries people have used it for landscaping and gardening. Planters, sinks, bath tubs, pots, animal troughs, and stepping stones are just some of the things you can do with it.

Hypertufa (the prefix hyper comes from Latin and means over or beyond) is made from a mixture of Portland cement, sand, peat moss, water and/or other organic materials. It resembles the natural tufa rock and can be cast into almost any shape. Hypertufa is very lightweight, durable, low maintenance and environmentally friendly. It can be used to create a myriad of garden ornaments, from containers, pots, planters to bird feeders, stepping stones and even totems. And best of all, it's easy and fun to make.
