The Bulgarian Language
The Bulgarian language is a member of the South Slavic group of the Slavonic subfamily of Indo-European languages and is the official language of Bulgaria.
Modern Bulgarian
Modern Bulgarian is generally dated from the 16th century. It contains many words from Greek and Turkish stemming from the period of Turkish hegemony. More recently Russian, French, and German terms have been adopted in the language.
