The Catalan Language
The Catalan language is a member of the Romance-Italic subfamily of Indo-European languages. It is, like all Romance languages, descended from Latin.

Linguistically, the Catalan language is related to the Occitan language which is spoken in southern France. Catalan however does it share many similarities with Spanish and French, and well as other Romance languages.
There are approximately 4 million native speakers and 9 million people who use Catalan.

Where is the Catalan Language Spoken?
The Catalan language is spoken in northeastern Spain in Catalonia, in the Balearic Islands, in Andorra, in Southern France and in the town of l'Alguer, on the Italian island of Sardinia.
