My Quest...To Learn To Be Pack Leader

I can still remember the day I first saw my puppy...He was a little ball of white fur, but oh so feisty! His poor siblings couldn't have been any happier to see him go, and I could almost hear them calling me a sucker as I walked out with him in his puppy crate. Oh man, was I in for the ride of my life! It didn't take me long before I realized that I needed to learn to be pack leader!

This was indeed a tough journey. I remember taking the puppy out to use the bathroom, for most an uneventful experience, but for us, always an adventure. Anybody who walked by my little bundle of joy quickly learned that this little white puff of fur was a beast waiting to be freed from captivity! To be honest, it was cute at first, but it quickly got old, especially as my puppy grew into a dog. At this point I knew I needed help, so I hit the search engines hard and came across this great training guide, SitStayFetch, which helped me learn to be pack leader.

I can honestly say that this program probably saved our dog. I knew I needed to learn to be pack leader in order for this relationship to work. I can't tell you how many times I considered taking him to the nearest shelter and leaving him. A lot of people do this, and I didn't want to be one of these people. This dog was my responsibility, and I had to put my heart into it, and that I did. I downloaded the free SitStayFetch 6 day course and made it my goal to become pack leader.

Let the SitStayFetch program help you learn to be pack leader!

Gain Control Over Your Dog

Learn to be pack leader and enjoy a healthy relationship that will last!

Dogs are no doubt the most common household pet. They are loved by most, that's of course if they are well behaved. If they are not well behaved then they become a nuisance, and generally not very pleasurable to be around. This is very unfortunate for the dog owner, as well as the dog. In these cases, the human has failed to learn to be pack leader over there dog.

Why do you think so many dogs end up in shelters? More times than not, it's because of behavior problems. These behavior problems are not the fault of the dogs. They are usually because the human does not take the time to learn to be the pack leader. They fail to search out proper dog training, and in the end, they are unable to handle the dogs natural instincts and behaviors.

If you own a dog, or are considering a dog for your family, the best thing you can do is learn to be pack leader very early on in the dogs life. To be pack leader over your dog is not only important for one human, but is crucial for every human in the family, especially for kids that interact with the dog.

Dog Training Is Essential

As you strive to learn to be pack leader, realize that not only is dog training essential, but human training is as well.

Many people fall into this trap when they begin training there dog...They fail to realize that not only is it essential to train the dog, but the human needs to be trained as well. This means that you must be prepared to make mistakes, and fix them, before your dog catches on. Your dog is a creature of habit, and they learn by positive or negative reinforcement. This means, you reward the dog when they do something good, and ignore the dog when they do something bad (or don't reward them).

Now take this example...If your dog continues to counter surf (getting on the counter, and grabbing that juicy steak that just came off of the grill), do you think it's best to yell at the dog "FIDO, COME!!!", or to simply get up, go over to the dog, and gently help him off of the counter? Go ahead, try the first approach, and Fido will quickly associate "FIDO, COME!!!" with being in trouble. Now the next time you call him in for dinner, he'll probably run the other way!

In the end, you as the human needs to understand how to talk to your companion, so that they can clearly understand what they are supposed to be doing.

Does Fido run from you when you call him to dinner? Learn how to correct this behavior while you learn to be pack leader with the SitStayFetch training program.

With the SitStayFetch dog training guide, you will learn to be pack leader!

Success Factors In Becoming Pack Leader

Why you must learn to be pack leader early on!

Many people wait far to long to become pack leader...Or they are forced to become pack leader in order to keep the dog. The reason is typically that the dog is so young, that they are just too cute, and many people feel that their dog could never be a nuisance. Yes, even your dog can be a pain if not properly trained!

To become pack leader over your dog should be one of the first things you consider when choosing your dog. When you are considering your breed, take into account the energy level of the dog you choose, as well as the ease of training of the breed you choose. These things will be crucial in determining how successful you will be in your quest to learn to be pack leader.

For example, if you would rather sit on the couch and watch TV than take a long walk or jog with your dog, then you probably don't want to even consider a more energetic breed such as a Border Collie...However, if you are interested in being very active with your dog, then a Border Collie will provide you with an excellent companion that will always be willing to go outside and play!

Tips To Get You Started

Here are a few tips that will help you in your quest to learn to be pack leader...

  • Make sure the dog understands dinner time routine. In a pack setting, the weakest dog is the one that eats last.
  • Institute the no free lunch program with your dog. Any attention the dog gets, especially special treats show only come once they have earned it. Make them do a sit-stay before getting any kind of reward, whether it be food or praise.
  • Make sure the dog enters the home last. Make the dog sit and wait until all family members have entered the home before they are allowed in.
  • This one is probably hard for a lot of people, but keep the dog off of the furniture! Remember, the home is yours, not the dogs.
  • Put the dog in submissive positions, and "tower" over the dog. Get the dog to lie on its' back, and then kneel over the top of the dog.
