Learning the Ukranian Language

The Ukrainian language along with the Belarusian and Russian languages, to the East Slavic group of the Indo-European language family. These three languages are very close to one another and have a high degree of mutual intelligibility. Resources for learning Ukranian have been limited until recently.

There are about 46 million people who speak Ukrainian as their primary language. The Ukrainian language by a further 1.5 million in Poland and by about 0.5 million Ukrainian migrants in each of Canada and USA.
