Due to the product design for ages 9-14 years, it is not recommended for novice Lego users. Really it depends if your child has the insight of what when why and how it all comes together. It can keep them occupied for hours in building with stretches of playing with the characters. Hazardous to children under 4.

If you are looking for a family project to assist your kids with, this will definitely fit the bill.  
There are many small pieces and if you're a parent be prepared that you may have to contend with this issue.  Small price to pay once you see the hours of fun your child will have with this set. This set comes with 20 droids so you may want to add to your collection if you have the old MTT.

This set is very durable and once put together, will not be put back into the Lego box and not be seen like so many other kits.
