Integrated 1.3 Megapixel Camera & Exclusive Lenovo Veriface Security!

An integrated 1.3 megapixel camera combined with Lenovo's VeriFace face recognition software. Lenovo has introduced a revolutionary new feature on many of their notebook computers called VeriFace! VeriFace is face recognition software, which is actually capable to identifying authorized users of your Lenovo Notebook Computer just by their face! Now that many Lenovo systems include integrated cameras with excellent quality (1.3 MegaPixels), facial recognition has become viable and available for day to day use in securing your computer. The included software lets you log onto your Windows account simply by sitting in front of your system, and your face is your password. What is much cooler is that it is very user friendly for multiple user accounts. For example, let's say you have three Windows accounts - Mom, Dad, and Sis. If you have associated their faces with their respective user accounts, the system determines which person is in front of the computer when Windows boots and automatically logs them onto the right account. In practice this works very well and is extremely fast at recognition.

This is an awesome laptop! I am a music teacher and this is 10 times the HP laptop the school bought me for arranging music. I LOVE Windows Vista, have never had any problem with pop-ups or anything like the one guy said. (But I have the pop-up blocker on) The ONLY thing I will say about that is: Internet Explorer 7, which comes loaded on this machine is NOT compatible with Vista, and you will drop characters as you type online. I had to download FireFox and it works Flawlessly! The Veriface technology is very cool! I LOVE that nobody can get into my computer at school! The only thing that the specs on this computer say which are different from the specs listed is that mine has a 250 gig (total) hard drive. I think it said 160 on here. If this is a new Y510 like mine, it would probably have to be the same. Well, I absolutely love it! Didn't think I would, but am so impressed! For a music teacher and arranger to love the sound on a laptop, you know it has to be

I am VERY pleased with this purchase. I have had no problems with this notebook. Vista can be a bit of a pain at times, but there's really no way around that aside from ''downgrading'' back to XP. The facial recognition feature is fine for logging in to Windows but I opted to disable it in my browser, because it tends to get a little overbearing. Fast system... very reliable. I love the pattern on the top that cuts down on finger prints and scratches from showing. HIGHLY SUGGEST THIS PRODUCT!!! Thank you TigerDirect!

I am quite skeptical when I pick Y510. I have a Sony Vaio CR123E for myself and Dell latitude D630 for work. But believe me Ideapad Y510 beat both of them down. What a beuatiful piece of hardware. Lenovo did an excellent job. Clean and strond design, my double priced Vaio is so shaky. Amazing sound(4.1). Video and display excellent for DVD and pictures. I cannot even pick one single cons with this laptop. So if you are looking for a budget laptop please check this laptop before making a decision. Lenovo with this kind of equipement going to threat HP and Dell pretty soon. Don't forget Lenovo now own the big names of IBM thinkpad, laptop trademark of IBM. So lenovo Y510 rocks.

The sound on this machine is really super, and the screen is also quite nice. I am ashamed to say this, but so far I like vista! This seems to be a solid computer and makes an excellent desktop replacement, however it is a bit chunky and on the heavy side: it is not something you will want to whip out of the case and put on your lap in an airport waiting room.

Great laptop. Like everyone else, I am not impressed with Vista but I'll get used to it. Nice thing is it came with the original disks. I do like the one button repair of the system That is pretty nice. Good battery life - 3.5 to 4 hours. the harddrive was partitioned which is great. I also set up the face recognition software. Be careful about the lighting. If it is shinning on you, your face, it may not be recognized. Mine works great. Best web cam I have ever had. Day or night, this cam really produces a great picture. This is my thrid IBM/Lenovo laptop. My first was a T21 which I gave to my 4 year old. My second was a T23, which this one is replacing. Screen is excellent and provides a great picture.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Laptop Computer is a Great buy for Consumers

A Reliable, No-Nonsense Notebook from a Reliable Name

Most computer users can be hesitant in buying laptops because of the price. While some of the less hesitant would rather opt for an incredible bargain in the form of a refurbished notebook, others tend to lean toward the brand new.

After all, brand new means all the components are like the buns straight from the oven: fresh and untouched. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Laptop Computer is one great notebook that is capable and complete. It rallies the idea that great performance doesn't have to come with a whopping price tag.

Looks-wise, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Laptop Computer is vastly different from the other notebooks in the current market today. This points to one thing: this computer is designed to set itself apart. And set itself apart, it does. The 6.4-pound marvel features an angled hinge design, seamless glossy display, and LED-backlit media buttons. The matte black chassis is very durable and a surprisingly clever design move. The textured weave pattern on the lid prevents it from slipping from your bag. Although it does not have a latch to hold the lid closed, the hinge mechanism works well and firmly holds the lid in place. Granted, the whole notebook can be a bit thick and heavy. But with the features it holds, this laptop more than compensates for its bulky appearance.

An Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2370 processor powers this notebook. It clocks in at a good 1.73 GHz with FSB speeds going up to 533 MHz. This processor boasts Enhanced Intel Speedstep® Technology and Intel® EM64T so it can process 64-bit data fast. That means power to multitask and handle the latest multi-threaded applications seamlessy. With 2GB of DDR2 memory already installed, you won't have a problem with the Windows® Vista%u2122 Home Premium OS. The 15.4%u2033 WXGA glossy screen on this capable mobile computer offers sharp contrast, excellent color, and very even backlighting.

Enjoy 1280×800 pixel display with the excellent straight-on and horizontal viewing angles. Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 lets you avoid suffering from grainy images, ripples, and stuck pixels. To aid you further with your multimedia entertainment, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Laptop Computer is already equipped with a DVD Recordable optical drive, Dolby Home Theater premium audio with four speakers and a sub-woofer, and a Multimedia Control Center featuring the convenient Shuttle Key for instant volume and equalizer control.

If you're concerned with security, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Laptop Computer has an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera that works with Lenovo's unique VeriFace face recognition software. Now you can immediately access your notebook just by sitting in front of the screen. You can even lock the system once you've stepped away. A built-in power management application called "Energy Cut Tool" is located directly above the power button on the left side of the keyboard. This small button is labeled "Novo" and it allows you to choose between three different preset power options (high, medium, and low). This allows you to control your battery usage and even extend battery life when traveling. An ExpressCard/54 slot, three USB 2.0 ports, as well as other ports for devices like a modem or VGA help you with your work and play.

With all these features, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Laptop Computer clearly proves that performance, entertainment, and security can be had at an average price. After all, blowing all your money on top quality equipment just to eventually get sub-par performance isn't worth it.
