- Thanks for all the good tips, Jeff. I've done just 10 lenses since joining Squidoo and have been so busy learning HTML and other helpful tips, I haven't done much promoting yet. So now I'm gathering information on how to 'promote'. I always leave 'real' messages with any updates I put on Twitter and/or Facebook because it IS annoying to get just a 'generic' message, leaving you no idea what the URL is even for! Don't do the auto post from Squidoo to twitter. Instead make it a custom comment though your twitter account. It will increase your clickthru rate and it will keep your twitter posts from looking spamy from all being the same.

I've bben on Twitter 6 months. If I get an email that someone is following me, I follow them. Whatever following is.
I know I very rarely look at my own page and never at anyone else'. Why would I?
I don't know any of these people so they are obviously not friends. They are just anonymous computers.
I'll keep clicking "follow" but I wish somebody could explain why I'm doing it.

- You have to understand how social sites like this work. People are not going to do what you want just because you post it on Twitter. You have to post regularly and build a following. No one wants constant spam from a person on twitter, but if you add good info and an occasional link you will get traffic. Many of the most successful lensmasters understand this and practice this method.
