what is the most important decision you will ever make?
Ranked #54,969 in Culture & Society, #1,211,909 overall
What if today were the day? Am I ready?
No one woke up today saying to themselves, "wow I hope I die today." That is not the way any one thinks normally. My question though is what if you did, are you prepared? I am not talking about having arrangements at the local funeral home or having your best suit of clothes or favorite dress picked out, I mean your soul, your eternal destination. Do you know for sure what will happen to you when you die? In life most people like to be certain about things. Most of us like to know for sure about what we are doing or how to do it. Eternity can have that same assurity if we just make a desicion that can and will forever change our lives here on earth and beyond. Many today will tell you, "well I will worry about that later" or "I hope everything will be ok" or even worse "when I go I will just be dead and nothing else." My intention on this page is to help everyone understand that there is more, there is life beyond this world and it is forever. Indeed it is the most important desicion that you will ever make. I am so glad that you are reading here today.
What does my faith mean to me?
My faith means everything to me. I look back upon my life and wonder how in the world did I make it before now. I always knew there was something more, but I never understood the need for it to be personal. I want to share my heart in these words. I want everyone to see that there is more. We live from day to day often wondering how things will turn out. Would it not be nice to at least know one thing for sure? One of the best feelings in the world is to be able to lay down at night and know that if you do not wake up that all is well. This is not to be morbid or having a death wish. Knowing that you know is a great feeling. We all like to be sure of things. There is nothing more important to be sure of than what eternity holds for you. There are lots of false teachings in the world today, but there is only one truth and His name is Jesus Christ. I pray that in these pages you will find Him. My faith changed my life and for the first time ever I found what real peace is all about, it's not in the world, it is within.
My religious or spiritual background
I finally got it!
I was raised in church, but to be honest never really got it. It was not until I was 28 years old that someone took the time to explain things to me in a way that made sense. I saw that it was so much more than just believing in something. I saw that I could actually get to know God. I could actually talk with Him and He would listen. I saw that He loves me so much that He sent Jesus to take my place on the Cross. My life forever changed. No longer was this just religion, it was personal. It was true faith that came from the heart. Many today do not understand this because they are not being taught the whole truth. I spent most of my life in law enforcement. Toward the end of this part of life is when I came to know the Lord. I was miserable, I hated my job, my heart felt so empty and blank. Going to work was a huge chore, I had to make myself do it. I was involved in a local church and had been asked by the pastor to teach a teen age Sunday school class. At the time I thought to myself, "me? what in the world do I know about teaching anything, much less Sunday school" but I did it and that was the one thing that made me happy. I looked forward each week to writing the lessons up and teaching the class. Our small group of young people grew each week as they seemed to like the way I presented the message. I often used my own life experiences to teach them just how important a relationship with Christ really is. They inspired me to keep growing in my own walk as well. As time went by this was the one area in my life that was being fulfilled. My dear friend Nikita Koloff and I held a youth rally one night and over 300 kids came and by the end of the service over 75 came forward to receive Christ as personal Lord and Savior. It was that night that I felt the Lord pulling at my heart and telling me this is what I was supposed to be doing. Leading, teaaching and bringing others to Him. It would not be long afterwards that I would leave police work and begin studying for the ministry. I was very blessed to be able to enter seminary and earn a Master's Degree. I went to work at a small church in rural South Carolina and would pastor there for a couple of years before leaving for a call in North Carolina. God has moved in my life over the course of my ministry. As with most things in life there have been ups and downs but God has never failed me. He has walked with me through the good times and the bad. He has picked me up when I have stumbled and shown me the path the I am to take. Nearly two years ago He opened a door for me to move away and start my life over and continue the work that He called me to do. It was a time in my life that I really needed a change. I was still very happy with the ministry but my personal life was not as good. I began to pray and ask God if He could still use me and to please show me what to do and where to go and that no matter where it was I would be obedient. The door opened and I went through it and have never looked back. I am happier today than I have even been in my whole life. I have a wonderful church family and recently I was blessed to be able to return to school and have now earned my Doctorate degree. The church that I serve is flourishing and growing weekly. Recently we ran completely out of parking space and the services have been spirit filled to say the least. More and more people are coming to know Christ and the waters of the Baptistry are stirring. Serving God has been my highest honor and I look forward each day to my walk toward glory. I want to take as many with me that I can. I pray that these words will encourage anyone who reads them. Life here on earth is over when you draw your last breath but in eternity it is just starting. Be ready, be prepared, come to know Christ today and have one area in your life that is certain and has no worries. I want to help you understand all this and am alway available to explain.
