My favorite content

Life is too short! I love to ski. I love to take pictures of skiing. Why stand on a perfectly good mountain when you can jump off? Well, my friends and I like to snap photos and make short movies while skiiing. I want to keep these memories forever. Do you have special content you never want to lose?

Why life is too short

Life is too short. We spend a lot of time these days creating content. In our homes, at work and in our businesses, we get creative. And sometimes (but I don't like to admit to it) I just do work. Where do I store all my creative content and work?

Well, at home, a lot of it is on my home computer. In my small business, my important stuff is on my business computers. I know what I store - pictures of my kids growing up, the funny moments, the special events, cousins and friends, and so much more. I have several short movies of my wife learning to ski - what a great adventure!

More seriously, I have our household financial information and lots of e-mail too! On my small business computers I have it all - creative work produced for clients, course work from training and educational courses we developed, financial information, customer records, e-mail, contact lists, letters, spreadsheets, presentations, training movies, product demos, and much more.

What do you store? Do you store e-mail and contact lists? Do you store photos or movies from your digital camera? Do you have songs on your computer too? What about your browser favorites? What would you do if you lost your browser favorites or pictures or music? What about all the other content on your computer?

Is my computer safe? No! Do you know someone whose hard drive crashed? Do you know somebody who had their laptop stolen? Do you know somebody who deleted or changed the wrong file? Do you know somebody who lost valuable content? Everyday, too many people lose their precious memories.

Instead of recreating lost work, what would I rather do? Well, my wife and I took up skiing. I would rather spend time on the slopes with my wife. My son has been learning to ski too. Spending time creating new great adventures is where I would rather be. How about you? Where would you rather be?

What do I do? I use an online backup service. An extension to My Computer provides me all the control I need to backup my content online and get it back from any disaster. An online backup service should be easy and automatic. More information on my online backup solution is available at backup.jmjgroup.com.

Life is too short to re-create our valuable content. How would you feel if you lost all your family photos? How would you feel if you lost all your financial records? What about that essay you have been working on for weeks? Life is too short to even worry about losing our valuable content. Online backup is a great answer to these avoid worrying about these questions.

Your precious memories cannot be recreated. Life is too short to do your work over again. Protect your memories with online backup.

Tell me what you store on your computer. Tell me what you would rather be doing.

Take care.

-Jordan.

Nothing to do with online backup, but ...

Although I don't have to worry about backing up this content - it is not mine - I do want to share it. This is one of my favourite ski videos. My friends and I don't have adventures as wild as these, but even so, we don't want to lose the videos we make. This video was put together by the crew at my local ski shop - www.gords.com

Time to make new content!

Going Skiing - First Trip 2008/2009 Season

November 24, 2008: I am hoping to make some new content this week. Time to take the family skiing. Going to Sunshine Village for the first ski trip of the year - www.skibanff.com. I will upload some new photos when I get back. I am going to try my new 10 megapixel camera high in the mountains. Always making content. Always need to protect it.

November 29, 2008: WOW! We had two great days of skiing. I took lots of pictures and made a few movies. I will be downloading them all when I get home. I love to make new content. I will post a few of the good ones. The early conditions at Sunshine Village are great! When we left they were getting a little dusting of snow. So things will surely get even better as the season progresses. Not sure where ski trip number two will be yet.

I am definitely going to protect this content. If you have content to protect, check out backup.jmjgroup.com.

Online Backup: Carbonite online backup service

Every year, 43% of computer users lose irreplaceable files. Even those
who use on-site backup methods such as CDs, memory sticks and external
hard drives are at risk. Fires, floods, theft and other disasters can
render onsite backups useless. Carbonite Online Backup eliminates the
risk of losing files by automatically backing up the irreplaceable
files.

Anti-SPAM: Spam Arrest - anti-spam service

Do you still spend too much time checking your e-mail program junk
folder? Did you buy an add-on product for your e-mail software, but
still, junk e-mail is still a big hassle? Can't get the Outlook Junk
E-mail folder/feature to do what you want? No matter what you do the
spammers still find you? Does your good e-mail too easily get mixed in
with the junk? SPAM e-mail can be a very frustrating problem. You can read more on Squidoo too - Make your mailbox SPAM free.
