Lilith Fair
Lilith Fair was a music festival started by Sarah McLachlan to celebrate women in music. The festival traveled across the United States and Canada during the summers of 1997, 1998 and 1999. $1 for each ticket sold went to a women's charity in the area of each venue. The festival raised more than $7 million for various charities.
I went to one show each year. Each time I picked the closest venue where the Indigo Girls would be playing, which never ended up being all that close. The fist year I drove from Albany to Montreal's Stade DuMaurier for the August 17th show. The next year from Albany down to the Jones Beach Amphitheatre in NY for the July 15th show. And the farthest trip of all from Boston to Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre for the August 21st show the last year of the tour.
I can't believe it's been 10 years since Lilith Fair ended. I was hoping that it would be revived one day though it looks like it will be happening! The festival will be in Europe & North America sometime in 2010.
