I strongly recommend that you create a checklist for each list you own. As you start to work in new niche's it's vital that you start building a list from day one. Because of this I only use Aweber as I can have unlimited lists.

Anyway, as I was saying. When you create a checklist print it out and keep it safe, have a folder set aside for it - this might seem a little over the top but trust me, it's easy to get lost in paperwork and this is THAT important.

First things first, you must have people signing up to your list in order to be able to put any of this information to use.

Offer something of value that people want or need and they will want to bite your hand off to get it. Simply asking for someone to give you their name and email address just isn't going to cut it.

The most important part of building your list is keeping your subscribers - even if it's just a few. If you start out hitting them with emails selling from day one - do you really think you are going to keep them? You need to create an autoresponder series that offers something really great to the reader ...

BUT ....

Here's the really tricky part. You are a marketer - you don't want them to expect freebies from you constantly. You shouldn't be scared of offering them your products, you just have to do it in such a way that create equal balance.

If you publish a newsletter, why not consider following this sequence:

• Send the promised product and let them know what it can do for them. Let them know who you are and what you do.


• Two Days Later: Send them links to your past newsletters or content on your blog letting them know how it will help them.


• Two Days Later: Create and send a report that they can re-brand and sell on. It promotes YOUR products and pays them commissions!

Not only are you giving them lots of freebies, you are also getting them to your sites, products etc and in giving them something of yours to sell and promote, they in turn are building more subscribers for you - Viral Marketing at it's best via your list building efforts.

Whenever someone see's an offer their initial response is "What's in it for me?" Failing to realise this will result in a LOT of people unsubscribing.

When you send an email out you need to be aware of this so make sure that you set your autoresponder messages out and keep a note of when they go out, what's in them and record your results.

Placing this at the forfront of your mind will mean that your autoresponder series is balanced with freebies and promotions - the promotions and freebies NEED to let the reader know from the start what's in it for them. If they don'e realise - they wont bother reading.

If your readers start reading less and less they will soon start to remove themselves from your list.
