The world is my Squid

Some say oyster, but I say squid. Squidoo has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me. How wonderful to publish my poetry to the world. Squidoo gives the necessary incentive to produce more work. In this lens you can see the result so far for me.

Poetry

These are lenses of poetry. I've always written a little poetry now and again but since coming to Squidoo my muse seems to be never far away. This is a great joy to me and I hope you can share that joy too.

Vaster than the ocean,
Deeper than the sea.”

My challenge to myself

The first of several lenses to contain 365 poems

These poems written mainly in 2011 relate sometimes to the month designated, but also contain quite random subjects, as the mood took me. So although a lot of them relate to the weather and general characteristics of each month, there are other poems on other subjects. There should be something to please everyone.

Michel Quoist sees God in everyday life

Quoist says that prayer comes from everyday experience. God is in everything around us. He has profound things to tell us. He speaks of the meaning of suffering which seems so arbitrary. He speaks from the hospital and the football stadium. He speaks of Jesus on the way to the cross. I've only had the book to borrow for one day and already I can feel it is going to be one of my favourite books and I will need my own copy. A friend lent it to me after reading my poems, thinking I would like it and he was right.

Learn here about a great champion of the recorder

Carl Dolmetsch did a great deal towards encouraging the playing of the recorder in the twentieth century. He revived its use which had declined since the Baroque. His father Arnold had taught him. Arnold was a great authority on almost every type of ancient instrument in Europe.
