You Are Looking a Little GREEN Today! Congratulations!

Eco-Consciousness Looks Good On YOU!

Gone are the days of drab and way too funky organic clothing!

Welcome in the new green!

It's trendy, good looking, durable, and colorful!

Years ago, when I first started wearing organic clothing, my first concern was my own health. I was (and still am) chemically sensitive and knew that organic would be a better choice for my overall well-being! But, the girly-girl in me wanted something stylish!

Now-a-days, I can have both!

And, as you will see, green applies not just to clothing, but to a lifestyle. From recycling to conservation to solar, green is really just a choice you make over and over again.

Green is MORE than just clothes!

It's a consciousness...

Green is a choice that I make every single day!

Here are some green choices you could make this week:

*Visit the local Farmer's Market
Local produce is fresher, less likely to contain unwanted chemicals, and uses less resources to bring it to you.

*Choose organic veggies
Support growers who care about the planet and respect your health at the same time.

*Bypass the drive-thru fast food with the styrofoam containers and take your own lunch
Those containers take many lifetimes to degrade, and are toxic to produce, not to mention that you will save yourself the chemical exposure.

*Grow your own food
The ultimate in green! If you don't have room for a garden, consider growing your own herbs, wheatgrass or tomatoes.

*Install a water filter or collect rain-water (I'll show you how in another lens), or find a spring
Save the landfill from having to accept any more water bottles. Save yourself, again, from unnecessary chemical exposure.

*Select clothing made of natural fibers, grown organically
Wear it as long as you can, then use it for rags, and finally compost! A complete circle!

*Replace incandescent light bulbs with florescent.
Be sure to recycle the bulb that are still good. I gave mine to Habitat For Humanity. You will save electricity, and won't have to change them for years.

Consider Going Solar!

It's Easier Than You Might Think!

Having spent over ten years off the grid, I have found that using solar & wind is merely a change in consciousness. Once you get the hang of it, it's really very simple.

To Date My Husband and I Have Designed and Installed 4 Solar Systems & 1 Wind System

The ULTIMATE in GREEN!

If we can do it, you can, too.

What it requires:

Careful Planning - Get to know your power consumption.

Cut Your Current Consumption - Install fluorescent lighting, Install an On-Demand Tankless Water Heater
(preferably gas), Place switchable surge suppressors on major ghost-power drains (like TV's, Computers, Stereo Equipment, Microwaves, etc) - By doing these things, your system will be smaller, which equals less up front expense. More tips here.

Calculate your system size

Purchase and Install: Here, you may want to hire a solar electrician. We did install all of our own systems, however, my husband has an electronics background, which came in very handy!

There are many places to find solar systems

Even on eBay

Unions favor deep CO2 cuts and green jobs
By Alister Doyle, Environment Correspondent

OSLO (Reuters) - Trade unions are supporting deep cuts in greenhouse gases as part of a planned U.N. climate pact and want to ensure jobs are preserved in a shift to a green economy, a leader of a global labor group said on Tuesday.

More jobs could be created than are lost if governments are serious about promoting a switch from fossil fuels to a low-carbon economy, said Guy Ryder, General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).

"We are aboard. It's a fragile consensus but it is there," Ryder told Reuters of an ITUC endorsement in 2008 of cuts in greenhouse emissions as part of a planned treaty to help avert rising sea levels, more heatwaves, droughts and floods.
