- odd.. cause my profile page says that the *Contact Me* is turned on. I wonder if it's something to do with Squidoo's new bio page updates going on today.

- Sadly, I'm aware of the inaccuracies of the anime & movies, and yes, much of this info does come from them, not the manga, because, like I said, the manga itself really doesn't give any background info. However, there was an interview with Rumiko where she was asked about this and she said she agreed with what was in the anime-movies, as being accurate to her vision.
Several (not yet all) of the book titles are listed on the other lens (which this one was originally part of), thus why the link to it is posted. The other lens became so long that it stopped loading, and had to be cut into multiple smaller ones.
It is my understanding that "sama" means "sir", much in the way it would be used when speaking to someone of great importance to the one using the word. I never understood it to mean "Lord". And I did point out that the whole "ruler of the Western Lands" bit is questionable at best.
Yes, I would like to learn Japanese, it's on my list of things to do.

- ... Most of that is conjecture, based entirely on filler, which is not canon in any way. Filler episodes and movies are just the anime production team waiting for new legitimate source material (AKA: the manga it was based off of). Besides this, you don't cite any sources when it comes to your findings for someone who scoured library books for information; if a revision is coming up, I hope I can see some titles and authors that I might be able to look up myself. I think I should also mention that you may want to make a study of Japanese too, because above when you mentioned why we call Sesshoumaru "Lord", that assessment is not entirely accurate as well. The original Japanese throws a "sama" behind his name, which actually has nothing to do with land or kingdom ownership, and this suffix is what was translated (a little foolishly, I might add) as "lord".

- I went with Myoga's "700 years ago", because it agrees with the fact that if a 250 year old InuYasha would be 15 and if Sesshomaru was a teenager at the time of InuYasha's birth, than he was also approx 250. 250 250 is 500, still a 200 year jump from the 700 that Myoga said, however Myoga changed his mind when questioned and couldn't remember the exact date of the first war, than commented that the second war was during the time InuYasha was under the tree spell 50 years ago.

- It was the old "Sword Sheath guy" (can't remember his name off the top of my head) from the third movie that said the 250 year date in reference to when the palace had been burnt down the day InuYasha was born. Sesshomaru was approximately InuYasha's age at that point (14 - 16 in human equivalently years).
Myoga said it in the anime (again, as I've said elsewhere, the anime added stuff that wasn't in the manga). What he said was that Sesshomaru had fought in the first battle against the Cat Demon Tribe with his father 700 years ago. It wasn't saying his age, rather saying a date at which he was alive and old enough to fight a war. That's the date I was using as a reference point.
It was Kaede said that the Dog Demons were a "phantom race" in "Aristocrat Assassin".
Shippo made an off handed remark that all demons were "immortal". Odd, me and my brother think that was a mistranslation, since demons die.
Totosi said Sesshomaru could not be killed (same chap that introed Koga)

- It might just be me, but I don't recall reading anything about Sesshoumaru's exact age anywhere. Where did Takahashi say he was any specific age?

LOL!
uhm... did you actually read this essay? I'm thinking not.
It seems that it is you who reads fanfiction, because everything I mentioned here comes straight from the series. There is not a single non-cannon fact mentioned on this entire lens!
As for the anime I have watched the entire series and all 4 movies a minimum of 4 times each, since last March alone; and the episodes containing Sesshomaru I have watched no less than 7 times a piece.
Same can be said of the manga which I not only read, but I do massive annalist of the art as well.
I read my first fanfiction EVER on June 18, 2008 (after the the release of 558) and if you go to my FanFiction.net account (EelKat there too), you can see every single fanfic I have read thus far, as I listed every single one of them on my "favorite list", there are about 20 of them.
In the future, please read the lens before commenting, it'll do you a world of good.

- Mikaela:
This already is a fanfiction, unfortunately. There is precisely zero accurate canonical information in this entire article, which is an amazing feat. The person who wrote it seems to have never actually watched or read Inuyasha, but got all their information on the series reading fanfiction.

- Thanks! OMG you have no idea how many library books I had to go through to track down all this information!.... I think I'm driving the librarians batty with all the inter library loan books I've got coming in each week! There's 3 months of research involved in my writing this article, and it's not finished yet!

- You are amazing. You have successfully figured out Sesshomaru mysterious background story by breaking down his outfit. I am currently resisting the urge to write a fanfiction based off of all this information.
