Diets to Losing Weight After Pregnancy!
Keep in mind, that there are some diets that work and some that don't work. So here I will explain how it all works and what you can do to lose those pounds. With a full time job of taking care of your little one (or little one's), you need a good healthy diet!
How Many Pounds Do You Have To Lose?
The Simple Fact is!
During the pregnancy our metabolism tends to slow down. Because of this, a lot of women tend to stay with the extra weight after pregnancy. Did you know that if you don't drop those pounds with in the first year, the statistics show, that those pounds may stick with you even longer! Uh...So the key is to boost your metabolism!
Hard Time with Losing Pregnancy Weight!
With both of my pregnancies, I had hard time losing pregnancy weight, and finding the right diet was almost impossible. With my boy it was hard, but it was easier than with my girl who came second! Keep in mind that there was no difference between he first and the second pregnancy in the weight gain. I actually gained 40 pounds with both of my pregnancies, but with my second one I could not lose the last 20. And to top it all of with my daughter, I got pregnant after the holidays so I had few extra pounds to lose in addition to post pregnancy weight. ;) you know how that goes.
The first 20lb just melted off, but the rest just stayed there.
So What Can you Try to Lose Weight After Pregnancy?
Now, if you only have few pounds to lose, you can try these simple steps.
If you are anything like me and like sweets, get rid of them! That is number one thing you can try. And I don't mean just chocolate, but all sweets including sugar in your morning coffee. Avoid juice and replace it with water. Completely eliminate sugar out of your diet. It can really help.
Now do not ignore fruit, because fruits and vegetables can help you lose weight. Replace all your snacks with fruits and vegetables. While you are at that, for your breakfast, have fruits and for your lunch and dinner half of the plate replace with vegetables. Try to pick the fiber loaded vegetables, they help with the speeding up of your metabolism! If possible for your breakfast add a lot of apples as they are also good in speed up your metabolism and look for high fiber vegetables such as broccoli.
In Addition Exercise with your Child or Children!
Also, I found it impossible to lose weight just by exercising, I had to change my eating habits.
Take it Easy with Exercise!
With my second baby, in my 8th week, I decided to go running. What a mistake! My knees were killing me for about 2 months after that. Just start slow walks and slowly increase the speed. Listen to your body and don't push your self too hard! Again, your body needs to heal! I know you desperately want to lose weight after pregnancy, but don't hurt your health along the way!
What is the Ideal Diet?
The fact is that the only diet we all like is the diet where we can eat and not starve, and while we are eating, we are losing weight.
You see, the metabolism is the number of calories we burn each day. During each day our body is burning calories when we walk, eat, drink, sleep, talk etc.
Those who have a low percentage of body fat and have muscles, they have higher metabolism. The reason everyone always says to exercise is because muscle uses more calories to maintain itself than fat does. The reason for exercise is so you burn more calories, while you build up more muscle, and your metabolism speeds up naturally! For most moms over 30 it is harder to lose weight before metabolic rate slows done as we get older. That is why most people (not just moms) fight with weight after 30.
Exercise and healthy diet do speed up your metabolism! But again, when it comes to weight loss especially after pregnancy, sometimes it is easier to have a diet to follow, and a healthy diet at that. So here is a link to the recommended diet plans after pregnancy!
What Kind of a Diet To Chose?
Diet's that recommend to eat more smaller portions of the meal are good diets for weight loss after pregnancy! Stay away from detox plans and starving diets! These will often make you drop pounds quickly, and than you will gain them back even faster.
(Note: when you decrease your food intake, at first your metabolism works at the previous calorie burning rate, but as the time goes on, a week or two, your metabolism adjusts to the new low calorie burning rate. That is also the main reason a lot of people gain weight back after being on low calorie diet, because when they go back to normal eating schedule, their metabolism is set at the low burning rate.)
In addition, if you really want to lose weight after pregnancy, you need a diet that gives you energy, in the contrast, the starving diets deprive you off energy!
Has it Been Over a Year that You Had Your Little One?
Did you know that most women who do gain over 40 lb. during their pregnancy, tend to lose the first 20 really fast and get stuck with the rest 20 for at least 10 years after they have their baby.
