Cutting Carbs Out

Carbohydrates are essential components of everyday eating since they give us the energy we need to get on with our hectic schedules. They should comprise the bigger proportions in our diet. Undeniably though is their ability to help us gain weight without us even knowing it. So it may cross our minds to completely eradicate them-not so fast. That would mean we are depriving our mind and body for that much needed fuel, unless you can picture yourself in slow-motion. So to come to a compromise with carbs, let's get to know which of them are healthy and otherwise.

1. The good carbs. These are the unprocessed sources; weight loss carbs. They should be as natural as can be, untouched by human hands and machines. They are a very good source of fiber so that's good news for your cholesterol level. You definitely can count on them to provide energy for a longer period of time than the bad carbs. A good number of vitamins and minerals are also readily included in these options. Here are just some of the examples of weight loss carbs:

Fruits
Vegetables
Beans: kidney beans, lima beans, garbanzo beans
Nuts
Legumes
All whole grain stuff: breads, cereals, pastas
Seeds
Sweet corn
Some dairy: skim milk, yogurt

2. The bad carbs. These are obviously the opposite of the more useful ones. They are either refined of processed so their nutritional state may have been lessened. Moreover, they have been added with preservatives further depreciating their quality. Don't be deceived though, these foods are easy on the taste buds therefore it takes enough knowledge to be able to tell them apart from the good carbs. However they are not as easy when they reach your stomach since they are not digested right away which in turn might cause an insulin spike-not good. Foods to avoid are:

Candy
Baked goods such as cakes and cookies used with refined white flour
Sodas
Dried fruits
White potatoes
White sugar
White pastas

If you notice, these bad carbohydrates make you feel full the moment you consume them but, it will fade away fast making you crave for more-this habit will then lead to unwanted weight gain. If you're used to exposing yourself to these indulgences, jumpstart your way to make a healthy change and shift to the weight loss carbs. You will not only avoid blotting yourself to a size you dread but you can also save yourself from fatal conditions like diabetes and heart disease.
