Handmade Jewelry, and Why It Rocks!!!

As an artist myself, I have a deep appreciation for all creative arts. I also happen to be crazy about jewelry and accessories! Naturally, I am drawn to the popular art of hand-crafted jewelry and accessories, and thanks to Etsy.com, artisans, designers, and craftspeople have a wonderful platform in which to share their works for sale or just for viewing.

These days, jewelry artists are getting extremely creative with unusual new materials and styles. The variety of amazing accessories available thanks to these independent designers is limitless! And I'd like to share some of my favorite designs with you while spreading the word about some of the most talented and unique jewelry designers I've come across on the web! (My own little Squidoo "treasury", if you will.)

I hope you will enjoy this collection, share it with others, and become inspired to browse Etsy to discover, admire, and collect your own handmade favorites!

Support Indie Artisans!

Supporting the efforts of independent artisans is a win-win situation. Not only does your purchase of a hand-made item help a passionate, hard-working individual thrive and be able to continue their craft, you end up with a truly unique, quality product that you'll know was made with love!

So, go ahead, treat yourself to a special bauble! And bring a smile and a sense of satisfaction to the person who made it!

Make the pledge to buy handmade! I did! :)

Selections from My Etsy Favorites!

I'd like to share several of my favorite jewelry items from Etsy, which I plan to update (and shop from!) frequently!

I'm also hoping my husband will read this lens and use it as a one-stop-gift-shopping guide. ;)

But mostly I'd just like to share the works of these awesome designers, because I'm always browsing Etsy and resisting the urge to inundate my friends and family with links to all the amazing items I find. I thought it better to showcase these favorites in one place, where I can share them with anyone and everyone!

There is a wide selection of styles represented here (I love it ALL!), so you're sure to find something for everyone!

I'll keep updating as I discover new, stunning items, so please feel free to check up on this lens! I hope you will find here a neat little treat for your own jewelry collection, or maybe a rare gift for that special someone! (Or at least enjoy the gorgeous eye candy.) Don't forget to visit Etsy often and show some support for independent artisans!

Interest in Handmade Jewelry

Where did it begin?

My interest in handmade jewelry and arts is due largely in part to my friend Katya LeBlanc, an established independent jewelry designer. Watching her talent and passion develop (not to mention trying on her jewelry!) really increased my interest and expanded my knowledge and appreciation of the art form. I own several pieces of her jewelry, and I get compliments on them constantly! Her jewelry is beautiful; I'd plug her work even if she weren't my pal!

Here is one of my favorite pieces from Katya's collection:

I was never actually a fan of turquoise in the past, but I particularly love Katya's use of Sleeping Beauty turquoise in her designs. When I saw how stunning this necklace was in person, I had to have it. It can be worn many ways and goes with a variety of outfits.

You can find Katya's items for sale at her Etsy shop! For more of Katya's jewelry (available for purchase), please visit her website, Katyaleblanc.com.

-----------------

Fun fact (and shameless plug): I had the pleasure of designing Katya's logo and website! If you are interested in a custom web design, logo, and/or graphics for your handmade business, please feel free to contact me at natalie@nnndesign.com! :)

I love your post! I've always painted and drawn, but I think as artists, with tons of ideas and not enough time to implement them, we're lways trying to find new mediums to express our art. So yes, I too began experimenting with making jewelry. I love it! http://kvenice.etsy.com Please keep supporting starving artists as myself! :)

Oh my yes -- I do indeed love handmade jewelry. I've got several pieces of fused glass jewelry from an etsy artisan. I love supporting these talented etsy artisans -- their work is so amazing.
