Her music blends rock, country, pop, folk and blues, into one mainstream sound, and she has won nine Grammy Awards. Sheryl is also a political activist. Sheryl was born to Wendell, a trumpet player and lawyer, and Bernice Crow, a piano teacher. How She Started As A Teacher
After graduating from college, Sheryl worked as music teacher at the Kellison elementary school in Fenton, Missouri. Teaching during the day allowed her the opportunity to sing in bands on weekends. Later, she was introduced to local musician and producer Jay Oliver. He had a thriving studio in the basement of his parents' home in St.Louise and helped her by using her in advertising jingles. Her fist jingle was a back to school spot for the St.Louise department store Famous-Barr. Mcdonald's and Toyota commercial jingles soon followed. She toured with Michael Jackson during the BAD World Tour from 1987-1989 and sang with him during the performance of "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" . She also sang in the short-lived infamous Steven Bochco drama, "Cop Rock" in 1990.

Sheryl Crow Recorded Her First Album
In 1992, Sheryl recorded her first attempt at her debut with Phil Collins' producer, Hugh Padgham. The self title debut album was slated to be released on September 22, 1992 but was ultimately rejected by her label. However, a handful of cassette copies of the album were leaked along with press folders to be used for album publicity. This album has been widely dispersed via file sharing networks and fan trading over the years. In the meantime Sheryl's song were recorded by major artist such as Celine dion and Wynonna Judd. She then began dating Kevin Gilbert and joined him in an ad hoc group of musicians known to everyone in the group as the "Tuesday Music Club". Group members, Gilbert, David Baerwald and David Ricketts, Bill Botrell, Brian Macleod and Dan Schwartz share song writing credits with Sheryl on her debut album "Tuesday Night Music Club" (1994). "Tuesday night Music Club" (1994) went on to sell more than 7 million copies in the US and UK during the 1990s. The album also won Sheryl three Grammy Awards. Sheryl appeared in the "New Faces" section of "Rolling Stone"(1993). The album featured many of the songs written by Sheryl's friends and was slow to garner attention until "All I Wanna Do" became an unexpected smash hit in the spring of 1994. Sheryl supplied background vocals to the song "The Garden of Allah" from Don Henley's 1995 album "Actual Miles: Henley's Greatest Hits"(1995).
She released Her Second Album
In 1996, Sheryl released her self titled second album. The album has songs about abortion, homelessness and nuclear was. The debut single " If It Makes You Happy", became a radio success and netted her two Grammy Awards for "Best Female Pop Vocal and perfomance and Best Female Album". Sheryl produced the album herself. In 1997, Sheryl contributed the theme song to the James Bond film, "Tomorrow Never Dies" (1997). Following that in 1998 Sheryl released "The Globe Session" (1998). During this period, she discussed interviews having gone through a deep depression and there was speculation about brief affair with Eric Clapton. "The Globe Sessions" (1998) peaked at No. 5 on the "Billboard 200 Chart" achieving US sales of 2 million as of January 2008. Later in 1998, Sheryl took part in a live concert in tribute to Burt Bacharach in which she contributed vocals on "One Less Bless To Answer" while wearing a full-length black dress.
She Made Her First Acting Debut
In 1999, Sheryl also made her acting debut as an ill-fated drifter in the suspense/drama "The Minus Man" (1999), which starred her then boyfriend Owen Wilson as a serial killer.
Sheryl had been involved with the Scleroderma Researsch Foundation (SRF) since the late 1990s, performing at fund raisers and befriending sharon Monsky. In 2002, as a result of her friend Kent Sexton dying from scleroderma, she interrupted work on her new album "C'mon C'mon" (2002) to record the tradtional hymn "Be Still, My Soul ", to be played at his funeral. In November of that year it was released as a single with the proceeds going to SRF. Sheryl's "Steve McQueen" won the Grammy Award for "Female Rock Vocalist Performance". In 2004, Sheryl appeared as a musical theater performer in the Cole Porter biopic "De Lovely". Her fifth studio album b> (2005) was released in September 2005. Although the album debuted at No.2 on the Billboard charts, it received mixed reviews and was not as commercially successful as her previous albums. The album got a new boost in 2006 when the second single was announced as "Allways Om Your Side" re-recorded with British musician Sting and sent off to radio where it was quickly embraced at "Adult Top 40". The collaboration with Sting resulted in a Grammy nomination for "Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals". As of January 2008, Wildflower" (2005) sold 949,000 units in the UD.
Sheryl Crow Continued to Contributes
In 2006, Sheryl contributed the opening track, "Real Gone", to the soundtrack for Disney/Pixar's animated film "Cars"(2006). Sheryl was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in mid-February 2006. Sheryl returned with her sixth studio album "Detours" which was released on February 5, 2008. "Detours" (2008) debuted at No. 2 on the "US Billboard 200 Chart", selling about 92,000 copies in its second week. "Detours" (2008) was recorded at Crow's Nashville farm. Her son, Wyatt, makes an appearance on the song "Lullaby For Wyatt" which is featured in the movie "Grace is Gone" (2008). Sheryl has also stated that USD1 of each ticket purchased for her 2008 tour will be donated to the United Nation World Food Program.
