Well I certainly wish I had a low maintenance garden, but am not sure it is possible in the tropics, even if you have just lawn!

Lots of great tips and ideas. I used to have huge veggie gardens when I lived back east, where water was plentiful. And I spent a lot of time working in those gardens every day. Life is different now as is the environment where I live, so now it's a bit of container gardening instead, in assorted planters as you mentioned here. Excellent lens, blessed by an angel on the "Back to School Bus Trip."

Today, on our "back to school" bus tour, I am visiting the garden category. I have returned to this totally awesome lens just so I could leave you with angel blessings.

You have something for everyone's gardening possibilities here. I really like the idea of hanging gardens and other container gardening. Perennials just make sense and can often be found at very reasonable prices at the end of the season. Very nicely done. I don't have a garden space right now and look forward to flower gardens again one day.

Thanks for a great lens, you are right you do not need a lot of space to have a garden, looking forward to more on gardening , my favourite subject.

Sounds like the grands and I need to try some cacti! We tend a little container garden on the deck and we all enjoy it. I appreciate all your ideas and will return to read again and again, I am sure!

All great tips! Unfortunately, I kill herb gardens so quickly. Cacti I do well with though. This summer, I'm looking to plant hanging tomatoes. Thanks for collecting these tips.

Though I love to have greenery around being a nature lover yet due lack of space in my home and because my patients and household jobs keep me occupied. These ideas will help me a lot. Thanks for sharing this very useful lens.

Low maintenance is right for me. I have 3 raised beds where I plant vegetables. I need to plant some flowers for color and smell :).
  • poddys Dec 9, 2010 @ 5:36 am | delete
Good ideas. Especially when both of you are out working during the week, it's not always easy to keep a high maintenance garden looking nice.

Adding an Angel blessing to this lens and I will feature it on my SquidAngel At Your Service lens.

I am very slowly planting succulents in my SoCal yard. Even some of those have died because of inattention. Oh, and thanks, the Fagor portable cooktop that you suggested I make a lens of, has sold over $11.00 worth product for me. Prosquids are rockers.

I'm well into low maintenance gardening! I love my garden but with a full time job and 3 mad dogs, I don't have time for lawns and weeding :) My whole garden is patioed with lots and lots of pots with big plants for definition and loads of colourful annuals in smaller pots and hanging baskets - all I have to do is feed and water!! Great lens and some really fabulous tips - blessed by a SquidAngel :)
  • pkmcr Sep 4, 2010 @ 3:34 am | delete

Totally awesome recommendations here! My irrigation system is simply black soaker hoses that remain in the beds. When it is watering time, I connect them to a separate hose leading to the faucet, turn on the water and sit back and enjoy my garden while I let the hoses do my work for me:) Angel Blessed and added to my Squid Angel Mouse Tracks lens.

Good lens .....I also love gardening i do gardening through containers due to lack of space and i found that these are not only affordable but also good looking to and by using various types of containers like Flower boxes, Flower Window Boxes, Aluminum Window Boxes we can give good look to the exterior and interior of the house.
