The 3-Step Approach
- Exercise! Exercise is the best way to lower blood pressure. Start out by getting permission from you doctor, then ease into it. You can benefit by just adding a 15-minute walk each day. Aim for 30 minutes of exercise at least 5 times per week.
- Lose weight. By adding in more exercise, you will probably lose weight. Losing just 5% of your body weight (that's 10 lbs for a 200-lb person) can make a dramatic change in your blood pressure. Start by making sure to eat a breakfast with healthy proteins and keeping a food list each day.
