    Housing is different here than in most places. The navy controls it and there are very few houses "on base." There is A LOT of military housing in the area. What happened was that a lot of little communities were bought up and are now run by Lincoln Military Housing. They have neighborhoods all over San Diego-from beachfront to in the mountian area. It depends on what you are looking for, how big your family is and if you have pets.
    If you know what squadron your Marine is PCSing to, give that Family Readiness Officer a call. They have tons of information.
    I have lived in private housing and military housing. You can save money on your BAH in private housing, but often the places are small and noisy. The military housing takes all of your BAH but it provides all the utilities, alarm system, internet. (basically all you pay for is phone and cable.)

    I have a question, Ill be pcsing there and wanted to know about Housing? If anyone can tell me how is it like living on base then living off would be helpful. Thank you
