Don't Miss "Middletown Days 2007" June 16th & 17th in Middletown, CA

The townspeople of Middletown, CA celebrate with a western parade and festival every year during Father's Day Weekend. This year marks the 46th year of that celebration. It happens Saturday, June 16th and Sunday, 17th. The festivities actually get an early start with a pancake breakfast put on by firemen at the local firehouse, beginning at 8 a.m. in the morning. Next on the agenda is the parade down Main Street (Calistoga Street) in Downtown Middletown at 11 a.m. Following the parade there is a festival a mile or so down Calistoga Street in the Middletown Central Park. The festival includes merchant vendors (including food vendors), musical entertainment, dancing and a rodeo.

The Power of Students Writing Letters

Nothing Succeeds Like Success

Last year, 30 high school students wrote the Fox News Channel requesting they come to enjoy the event. Amazingly, this small letter-writing campaign set off an international buzz - with encouraging actions from the Lake County Board of Supervisors and the Ryze Business Network (which happens to be worldwide). This year, 110 letters have been written promoting this small town festival to high-profile individuals and businesses. It's not just high school students writing those letters, but middle school students as well. Apparently, these young people are determined to make magic happen" in Middletown.

Would you like to see a sampling of these letters and to whom they have been written? I think you will be amazed? Click here.

What difference could enthusiastic letters from children make? Well, last year the Fox News Channel's Adam Housley showed up for the festival, spoke to the parade crowd and got Middletown mentioned all day long of the Fox News Network. That was a big FIRST for Middletown, CA.

As the creator of this lens, I am willing to give it a "thumbs up" - especially if it accomplishes the purpose for which it was created - to help make a small town western parade and festival be a success.
