It wasn't a majestic shot over the Green Monster. It wasn't at historic Fenway Park at all. Though it might not have been what many Boston fans had wanted, it still happened on Saturday, May 31, 2008. Camden Yards in Baltimore was the sight for this dramatic blow. With two outs in the 7th inning and Chad Bradford on the mound, Manny took a first pitch fast ball the other way for his 500th career home run. For those that love irony, Manny, who wears number 24 became the 24th person to reach the milestone. People dog the guy. People refer to him as living on his own planet, known as Man Ram. Everyone knows that he is brutal in the outfield and makes boneheaded plays that end up on sportscenters "not top 10", But let's face it. The guy can flat out hit. Now I have been a St. Louis'n all my life. I am a die hard Cardinals fan. With that being said, I'm not a fan of any other team, and due to the sweep in 2004, especially not the Red Sox. But I love watching Manny Ramirez play. I've said it a thousand times that this guy is one of my favorite players ever and in my opinion, no one from the right side of the plate has ever had as good of a swing as Manny. I do think Albert Pujols is the best hitter in baseball. I do think that A-Rod is right behind him. But Man Ram is right there with them, and hes been doing it for longer than Albert and just as long as Rodriguez. To put it in to terms of numbers, Manny's career .OBP is 30 points higher than A-Rod's. His Slugging percentage is also 12 points higher. His batting average is 6 points higher. Everyone knows the guy is great, but is there a chance that Manny Ramirez of all people might be slightly underrated?
