Introduction of Myself
I have been Macro Mining for over a year now. Over that time I have had a lot of success & some failures. I originally came to play EVE during my final year of college, it became an addiction that I had to feed. This being hard because while I had money for school & food. I had little money left over for anything especially something that had a monthly cost. So after an initial investment of time and a little money. I had myself a Mining OCR/AI Macro. After a bit of training I had my first Retriever and was out mining daily. Now almost a year later I have several Hulk's and it's paying for itself many times over. Including paying for other online games I play. I currently can afford to pay for my online gaming needs, but why pay for something that pays for itself.
Is Macro Mining Legal ?
Of course not. Your breaking the Terms of Service and the User Agreement every time you sign on and macro mine.
If your smart about it & play it careful. No one will notice you. That is a key to this whole business.

Rules of Macro Mining
- Do not talk about macro mining in game.
- Do NOT talk about macro mining in game.
- Do not get other macro miners banned. (Karma Hurts)
- Never stay in the same system for more than 16 hours at a time.
- Have at least 3 systems prepared in case you have to move your operation.
- Play it Safe, if you feel people are watching you, move on to another sector.
Initial Investment
Time & Money
First Thing,Patience your not going to make Billions of Isk overnight. If you are expecting that then you should walk away now as there is no real way of doing that.
If your new to EVE Online, I would first start with working on your skills. If you can get into a Mining Barge or Exhumer today then great you just need to invest time to find the system you want to mine in. You can use any ship to mine, but Mining Barges & Exhumer's are more efficient at it.
The money side of this investment is the cost of the macro + game & game time. I suggest starting out with 14 day free trial then buying a 90 day game time code. Then with the cost of the macro and the gametime code was roughly $70. As a college student this hurt, but I toughed through it.
Since I was starting out new I was mining with what I had on hand and when I had enough Isk buy the next best thing. After about a month I was flying in a retriever and learning to fly a Covetor. By the time I was almost at my 90 day mark I was flying in the Covetor but had paid for 180 days worth of game time. While still working my way to a Hulk.
The Real Numbers of Macro Mining.
These numbers are fairly accurate.
These numbers come from a Covetor with Tech I Strip miners. With just the required skills and nothing else.
You can make with 10-12 hours macro mining in 0.9 space. Roughly between 20-30 Million Isk worth of ore.
Currently Since I mine higher end ore in lower security space I make between 95-125 Million Isk over a 10-12 hour period. I know I can make more if I wish to take more risk, but I am content where I am.
