The iPod as Your Best Friend.
When you love music I've got only one thing to say. You NEED an MP3-player! These wonderfull devices bring music into your life wherever and whenever you go. As for me, I can't live without my iPod, it truly is my best friend (well almost...lol).
The iPod, The Most Powerful MP3-Player Available!
When you truly love music, you can't do without an iPod.
The Look
The look and feel of the iPod 30GB and the iPod 60GB is very familiar indeed. It looks like other iPod models and also feels like it when you try to use it. However, it is rather thin compared to other iPods, which makes it lighter and easier to deal with overall. Apple states it is less than a half inch thin and takes up 45 percent less space than the first generation iPod model. It still has the trendy look all of the iPod models share and goes with any outfit! This model comes in both white and black, which is also appealing to most consumers.
Video
The most intriguing thing about the iPod 30GB and 60GB is that not only can you use it to hear audio files, but now you can use it to watch video as well. They hold up to 150 hours of video, in addition to the 15,000 songs they hold at the same time. They include a 2.5 inch QVGA screen that is lovely and seems larger than others, which is a good thing indeed. The color screen is very clear and does a great job at getting the picture across well. The display actually has a 320 x 240 pixel QVGA color display that lets the user see photos, MPEG-4, and H.264 video files.
For videos you just go directly to the iTunes store, like you would for music and purchase music videos or TV shows. You can also put your own videos on your new iPod to share with your family and friends. If you love listening to music on your older iPod, imagine how much fun watching TV shows and videos will be. In fact, listening to music while the music video is playing is the most entertaining thing in the world.
Sharing Capabilities
In addition to looking great and being able to allow users to view and save video and music, you can also use the iPod A/V cable to hook your iPod to your television. This will allow you to share your music, photo slideshows, and videos with your friends and family on a bigger screen.
Video Costs
The cost of videos for the iPod 30/60GB model are incredibly cheap! You can get an entire television show for only $1.99 which is quite a deal when you pay the same for a three minute music video. The low priced videos are definitely a plus that comes along with this iPod model.
Drawbacks
The only bad thing found with this new iPod is that it won't work with the old docking stations. You must use a USB connection, which may not be a problem for everyone. For those that own older iPods however, it is annoying to be required to purchase all new equipment and docking accessories. In addition, even when you order the black color model, you will still get white earphones. It is unusual Apple won't make matching earphones. With a better than ever battery life however, there is really nothing else to complain about with the iPod 30/60GB model.

The Future of the iPod!
Where does the succes story end?
One of the main areas where you will probably start seeing a difference is in the storage space. The latest iPod has 80GB storage, which is enough for a person to store a years worth of music. Despite this, many now want increased storage space. The reason isn't that they can't fit all their songs, but because they are using the iPod for other things such as watching television or playing home movies. Therefore, the increased space will help this aspect of the iPod. Analysts have speculated on what the future of the iPod is going to be and they came up with four possible additions.
Increased Battery Life
The first of these is an increase in the battery life of an iPod. Many consumers of the iPod have complained about the short battery life of an iPod. While there are, accessories that can extend the battery, life of the current iPods unhappy customers can ruin Apple's reputation. Therefore, before adding more features Apple's first aspect should be to increase the battery life.
Digital Camera, Video Camera, Or Both?
A second possible addition to the iPod is a digital camera. Current iPods can display photos and create slideshows so the next obvious step is to allow the iPod to take photos as well. With the current storage space, alone you could take up to 8,000 pictures at a high resolution or 40,000 at a lower resolution. However, if the storage capacity is increased on the next iPod then the potential for pictures can go up as well. Along these lines, the third possible addition is that of a video camera. The challenge Apple faces is designing a video camera that would save in MPEG 4 format. The current storage space would allow you to take twenty hours of video.
Portable Hard Drive
The final option in the future of the iPod is a large portable hard drive. The next iPod will more than likely have a 50GB storage drive and this could easily increase to 100GB within two years. While this would give you the ability to store 25,000 songs, much more than you could ever listen to, it would greatly benefit television viewing on the iPod. You could possibly even start to use your iPod as a TiVo device.
These are just a few of the possible additions in the future of the iPod. However, there are endless possibilities to what the iPod can achieve. So we can only wait and see what the next iPod will bring.

I'm Bored of Music - What Else Can I Do With My iPod?
Hmmm, well in case you're really bored of listening to music, here are some ideas of other things you can do with your iPod:
Let's take the iPod video as an example.
- You can download photos and arrange them into a slideshow which can be programmed to play continuously along with the music or by itself.
- You can listen to the latest episode of your favourite podcast, or indeed watch it with the iPod video. You can catch up on the sports news or the real news, or you can listen to the next chapter of a podcast book.
- You can watch a TV show or even a film in you have the time and the battery power!
- You can go through your address book and sort the names according to how much you like the person or how good looking they are, or any other way you fancy.
- You can go for a run, or maybe just a jog, and time yourself with the stopwatch feature. Then you can compare your new times with your times from last week and congratulate yourself for improving or commiserate because you were rubbish this week.
- You can arrange your calendar for the near future so that you don't miss important meetings and occasions, like the trip to the hairdressers next week. You will never be late taking a library book back again!
- You can go online and order some more really cool accessories like neon cases and iPod socks to protect your beloved little friend.
- You can pop along to the iTunes music store and download a couple of games to play on your iPod. Some games aren't too great but it doesn't matter because you're playing them on your iPod and that makes it all better.
- You can go to the mall and just stand there pretending to use your iPod. It doesn't matter what you are actually doing with it, just having it out in public will give you something to do other than listen to music as members of the opposite will suddenly find you irresistible.
- You can delete the music you are bored of, download and sync a new lot and listen to your great new music without the worry of being bored again... well at least for a few weeks anyway!
Well...plenty of ideas to keep you busy playing around with your best friend :-)
iPod Accessories
A glimpse on the different iPod accessories available.
Speakers
JBL, Bose, Altec Lansing and Kensington are companies that make speakers designed to specifically work with iPods using their specific connector. Griffin Technology and Monster Cable are two companies that make add-ons so people can record sound, recharge on the go play music over the radio and wirelessly use their iPod through a remote.
Cases and Skins
The biggest accessories market for iPods are cases and skins. Many people buy these for their iPods not just to protect them but also to make fashion statements at the same time. Cases and skins are available from companies everywhere between iSkin and Kate Spade.
Special Clothing
Recently accessories have been made for iPods that are specific to the skiing and snowboarding industry. Jacket and backpacks have been made with panels on the sleeves or straps so the users can control the iPod. This helps make the iPod more convenient when outdoors.
Remote Controls
A new-wired remote control was released by Apple that allows a person to add radio-tuning capability to their fifth generation iPods. Shorter headphones have been produced by Apple to help reduce clutter. Apple has also started to produce their own handmade Italian leather cases specifically made for the thirty and sixty GB models as well as the iPod Nano for $99 apiece.
A/V Cables
The headphone on the new fifth generation iPod now accepts A/V cables for video and stereo analog audio. Apple has swapped the composite video connector so that you must purchase the compatible A/V cable through Apple only for $19. Trying to connect your iPod with a conventional mini cable will cause you to see corrupted video and hear corrupted audio. Since the system will attempt to render the wrong files. Therefore, for five dollars you can purchase a cheaper A/V cable and just remember to switch the connectors around when you use it with your iPod.
Loudspeaker systems
On February 28, 2006, Apple announced the release of the iPod Hi-Fi at a cost of $349. This amplified loudspeaker system can be docked with the iPod. This loudspeaker system can be plugged into a wall outlet or run on six D-cell batteries. The whole system weighs slightly less than seventeen pounds. It has special carrying handles so it can be transported easily.
