Netflix Movies

Top 10 Sci-fi/Fantasy movies from Netflix

This is the current list of the top 10 Netflix movies in the Sci-fi/Fantasy Genre. This list is updated every 12 hours.

001- Transformers

Based on the popular toys that transform from machines into giant robots, this live-action movie from Pearl Harbor director Michael Bay finds the planet Cybertron inhabitants engaging in a secret war for control of Earth's natural resources, which they desperately need for fuel. Able to disguise themselves as cars, airplanes, boats and more, the transformers prove a tough enemy in this film starring Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel and Jon Voight.
002- War of the Worlds

You know the story: Invading Martians equipped with ships that shoot unstoppable disintegration rays attempt to overwhelm the Earth. Based on the novel by H.G. Wells (and adapted into a famous 1953 movie starring Gene Barry), this version stars Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning as a father and daughter trying to keep one step ahead of the destroying Martians while humanity tries to muster a defense … any defense! Steven Spielberg directs.
003- Fantastic Four

During a space voyage, four scientists are altered by cosmic rays: Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd) gains the ability to stretch his body; Sue Storm (Jessica Alba) can become invisible and create force fields; Johnny Storm (Chris Evans) controls fire; and Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis) is turned into a super-strong … thing! Together, these "Fantastic Four" must thwart the evil plans of Dr. Doom (Julian MacMahon). Tim Story directs.
004- I, Robot

Inspired by Isaac Asimov's work, this techno-thriller stars Will Smith as Del Spooner, a mid-21st century Chicago cop investigating the murder of a scientist. Wary of technology, Spooner's not the perfect man for the job, but he takes it on anyway, aided by expert Dr. Susan Calvin (Bridget Moynahan). When Spooner discovers that an android (Alan Tudyk) may be the culprit, he realizes the entire human race could be at the mercy of machines.
005- The Golden Compass

After overhearing a shocking secret, precocious orphan Lyra Belacqua (Dakota Blue Richards) trades her carefree existence roaming the halls of Jordan College for an otherworldly adventure in the far North, unaware that it's part of her destiny. Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig and Sam Elliott co-star in this fantasy-laden family adventure based on the first book of the Philip Pullman trilogy His Dark Materials.
006- V for Vendetta

From the pages of David Lloyd and Alan Moore's groundbreaking graphic novel springs the enigmatic "V" (Hugo Weaving of The Matrix), a masked freedom fighter who's taken up arms against the totalitarian government in a futuristic Britain. Finding an unlikely ally in a young woman named Evey Hammond (Natalie Portman), V urges the citizenry to fight the oppression of the state. John Hurt and Stephen Rea also co-star.
007- X-Men 3: The Last Stand

When scientists develop a miracle drug to treat unwanted mutations, Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and his heroic band of X-Men must battle a group of mutants known as the Brotherhood, led by Xavier's former ally (Ian McKellen). Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, Rebecca Romijn and James Marsden reprise their roles from the first two films, with the addition of new recruits Kelsey Grammer and Ben Foster.
008- Stardust

A young man journeys to a magical world to win the heart of his true love in this charming fantasy based on Neil Gaiman's novel. Tristan (Charlie Cox) has promised Victoria (Sienna Miller) that he'll retrieve a fallen star to secure her love. Along the way, he battles a pirate named Captain Shakespeare (Robert De Niro), an evil witch (Michelle Pfeiffer) and other assorted goblins and ghosts. Peter O'Toole, Claire Danes and Rupert Everett co-star.
009- Eragon

When 15-year-old Eragon (Edward Speleers) stumbles upon a dragon's egg -- and then that egg hatches -- he sets in motion a series of events that leads him to assume the legacy of a legendary race of dragon riders. Jeremy Irons plays the wise storyteller Brom, and John Malkovich plays the evil king Galbatorix in this fantasy adventure based on the first book of Christopher Paolini's popular Inheritance trilogy.
010- Beowulf: Director's Cut

Directed by Robert Zemeckis, Beowulf tells of the great 6th-century Scandinavian warrior called upon to defeat a manlike ogre named Grendel (Crispin Glover), a descendant of the biblical murderer Cain. Based on the longest surviving Anglo-Saxon poem, this film adaptation's notable cast includes Anthony Hopkins as King Hrothgar, Angelina Jolie as Grendel's tormented mother, John Malkovich as Unferth and Ray Winstone as Beowulf.
